Sorry mate, that was nasty and uncalled for.

My 650 arrived, I will install it tomorrow, or at least attempt to.
Yes nasty and uncalled for, but bloody funny
Considering the way the car has gone thus far, it is a really good thing these cameras come with a PARK MODE

Given that there are people that can totally strip a car in a hour or so, surely it cant take that much longer to change 1 little hose

I then re wired it to only work when ignition is on, thereby giving me a couple of days footage before being overwritten, just in case.
Always good to use larger memory. Most can take 32G. This allows for longer recordings, especially if you are going away and cannot download it to a computer.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

The new 600/650 will take a 64GB card. I purchased the 16GB kit and a 64GB card separately. The cards that are normally included are basic crap. I got a Samsung Pro to get the quickest read write speeds I could. This does help with the image results too. It cost me $49.95, so factor in these things in your cost.
I may end up with the power magic pro system, not sure if I will use it though.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

All installed, hardest part was feeding the wire in the back tailgate as I have a thumb out of action.

Went the left side in the tailgate as it had less wires in the rubber tube thing and from there just feed the cable under the roof lining.

Didnt install the Magic Pro yet and took the main power feed from the centre console

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

How did you feed wire from front camera to centre console?
As I may have the power pro coming and may decide to use, I think I will run it as you have for now as long as I can keep it very cleanly out of the way.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

I'd be inclined to run the power from the base of the left side D pillar. There's ignition switched power there adequate for a dash cam on the torch feed. Alternatively there's accessory switched power on the other side.

Push the power and rear cam cables through the headlining from the location displayed in picture two above. Pull the quarter trim and pick up the power. Sorted.

If you were not fitting a rear cam, I'd grab power at the mirror (if available, I've not confirmed it).

Cheers,
Steve

Hi Snuke,

I can take some more pics where i run the power cable tomorrow.

Basically I popped the top of the centre console and took off the front right side of the console. Run cable in there, then up under the dash in the footwell so not to interfere with knee air bag. Then on the right hand end of the dash I popped another cover and pulled the door rubber off. I then run the cable up the pillar.
Then routed it at the front off the headlining where it meets the glass and was able to tuck it in there quite nicely. Then slipped in just enough cable behind the plastic on the windscreen to the cam, leave a little bit of slack because you need pull the power plug from the cam to remove the SD Card.

The excess cable I coiled up and tucked it in the right side of the console.

The only bit of cable you can see is in the compartment and where it goes into the camera.

Hope this is helps.
Pics tomorrow

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

Not great is it, at least you can see the number plates up close.

Re: Dash Cams - Down Under

All I could think about watching that was, keep left unless overtaking or turning right.
