Re: Diesel - run in tips

I drove trucks in some remote hostile environments for nearly 20 years.
Had a diesel jeep for the last 8 years.
Never needed to use an external filter.
Use to cut open my filters on the jeep to see inside.
Only ever saw traces of dust contamination, and I say traces only.
I work a lot in the desert on dusty corrugated roads.

Re: Diesel - run in tips

I have read an article in 4x4 mag and others have mentioned on forums that water containment is deadly for CRD's. So I was looking at it for this purpose.

Re: Diesel - run in tips

That's why these filters have water traps in them!
And all diesel filters I have used in the last 25 years have water traps built in.
Some have drains others don't.
Some (merc and my JGC) have a sensor for water light comes on your dash when too much water has accumulated.
I always carry a spare filter just in case the light should come on.

My wife friendly turbo timer is the Quadra-lift. When parking I tell her to wait until I lower the Jeep to park level so that it's easier for her to get out. She appreciates the attention and waits patiently.

Here's a question that we could open a whole new topic/thread on...
why don't MOST women understand science and logic even when it is drawn out for them in such a way that even a first grader could understand? I was dating this girl and she would back her car up & then before stopping she'd just pretty much slam it into drive and pull forward. She couldn't understand how that was a bad thing as her car hasn't broken down from it.

curio is on a distinguished road
Re: Diesel - run in tips

..thats part of gods wisdom

If women would think in a scientific and logic way, they would never fall in love with males like you and me, so the human race would be extinct pretty soon..

Pray the lord

You should have married her, thereby taking her out of circulation, and the breeding pool.

My wife's car is a turbo. After I told her about all the things that might happen to the turbo, she has become religious about it in her own car. 30 second warm up before first drive for the day, takes it easy at least until there is some movement by the temperature gauge, 15 sec wait when shutting down.

It's now a habit for her, so when the GC showed up she just does the same when driving it.
