What do you want us to say? I'm sorry you have a crap dealer and a crap test drive.

What sort of support were you looking for? Were you expecting someone to fix this for you?

I'm not taking the mickey (ok, maybe just a little), but honestly - your first post on this forum starts with 'this might sound like I'm having a go at Jeep'.

Seriously...

Better quit while your ahead. He is a She, She lives on acreage and She has contributed a lot to this forum.

I get that you may be an older Gent, but some of us like to able to read AND understand when someone posts a comment (or several) I think the point some were making is that, in general, punctuation helps break up a long post.

I get that you had a bad experience with both the car (don't know what caused that problem) and the dealer (which dealer so we can all avoid them?) and unfortunately that led you to here looking for answers. The best answer I can give is that if you are up for it, find another dealer, tell them of your last experience, and try again (this time demand an Overland or walk away).

Re: disaster test drive might mean end of jeep aspirations

and as for a fix, i wouldnt presume you to be so helpful, but i could hope...for all i know there is some easy fix (what do you call them TBS or something, tech fix from dealer) that has addressed this issue....if so you might have mentioned it so it would have been welcomed, if not then at least thats info i can weigh up my options.

i dont know what your problem is but as i said i am not having a go at jeep, afaia concerned all makes have their pluses and negatives

i can only apologise for my grammar, i do my best.

afwiw i have been reading this forum for a long time, well before posting here, thought it would be friendlier if i shared my misfortune. who cares how much acreage someone has, i've had and driven across plenty, its doesnt make the person...perhaps how much one posts does though

Re: disaster test drive might mean end of jeep aspirations

No doubt there was something wrong with the Jeep you test drove. But all vehicles no matter what make get broken some times, sounds like you got really unlucky. I would be pissed off if I had the experience you had too, but don't let one crap dealer stop you from getting a great vehicle. Have one more try with another dealer...

One thing I can say is that the 4wd system in the Grand Cherokee is every bit as good as a land cruiser or land rover. These comments that the GC is a softroader are nonsense. I reckon quadra drive is the best stock 4wd system available. Don't take my word for it, do a bit of googling on quadra drive.

Not bad mannered and not a bloke. (Thanks DCRSRT )

I'm also not having a go at your grammar. I still don't understand how you want us to respond to your test drive experience.

This forum is loaded with useful information and supportive members but how other than commiserating and feeling bad for your test drive experience with a less than stellar dealership can we make you feel better. (?)

Let me repeat - I'm sorry you had that experience. It is not typical.

thanks Brett,

constructive, cheers

i dont know where to look next re the suspension, like you mention i was under the impression the jeeps system was near identical to what land rover's is in the Disco which wins awards the world over for best 4wd, RRSport or RR, but a bit different to what LC200 has which is a bit more old school

compared to the LR disco, i notice the disco has a bit more clearance and it appears to run on air.

the clearance on the jeep i reckon would be fine enough for me in most cases. if i had to be critical i think an air suspension system run on air like the land rovers is better than running it on nitrogen (from memory) or whatever it is . i can imagine the jeeps system doesnt get as hot , not that i have seen any info on this whatsoever , but if it breaks down in the bush refilling it might prove epic. imagine on the canning stock route, ouch!.

refilling a land rover wouldnt be fun and games (i have heard it done on utube though) but just a matter of waiting for parts to be delivered from adelaide (apparently Austs central location for LR parts) or at worst the UK...waiting for nitrogen to be delivered into the bush might be a story in itself, but where there is a will (and a plan) there is a way.

anyways, thanks, the GC fits me nice, looks great to me and my family, no thanks to the dealer i now have some grave concerns.

an ugly person can say they are not a man but whether they are ugly is up to the person looking upon them. with respect, you cant declare yourself well mannered, its up to the person you are addressing

there are lots of ways and items to respond to, it may be some items are easy fixes or someone would have some advice i had not yet thought off, if as you suggest i should have thought of all answers first there would be no need for me to ask at all! however, many ppl still remember the old adage of if you cant say anything positive dont ay anything at all

Re: disaster test drive might mean end of jeep aspirations

Your Dealer = Total Moron
Your Demo Car = Faulty Throttle position sensor or similar issue, nothing major, but poor form it happened on a test drive.

As for the other comments about rudeness, it is difficult to pickup on the tone of a statement, but you need to chill out and not think we are giving you shit.

As for the Disco or Cruiser comparison, they not only cost $20k+ more they are also as capable as a Jeep. I do not expect you are planing to go hard core 4x4 (who would in a $70k+ car) so the Jeep will do just fine. The DFP will not give you any issues if you know what causes them.

I would suggest you find another dealer who has a clue. It sounds like a multi franchise dealer who does not do much training.

The New JGC is a great car and you would be hard pressed to find better.
