Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

I am sure your car will be a MY13 build. There are 2 Aussie cars in the Tracking thread, both with June orders and neither has been built.
My guess is that the last shipment of MY12's is on ships, and they will not be building any more until next month when they start the MY13's. I would expect your's to be a late July or August build for an Oct delivery. I guess your's will be the only Jeep in Tennant Creek? Where is your closest dealer?

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

There are two TJs and a JK owned by people at work, but they were bought interstate before they moved to the NT. Haven't seen any others that I can recall, and definitely no Grand Cherokees. I've seen two come through town towing caravans, one with the ECB bar. I wanted to stop it and have a closer look but someone decided to drink a 30 pack of VB and misbehave so I had to go have a chat with them instead.

Closest dealer is in Alice, but FleetNetwork is nationwide and they've ordered mine from Suttons Waitara because they did a better price, and then it's getting trucked up here. I just hope it's in good condition when it gets here because it'll be a bit difficult to refuse delivery if it's not.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

It's unusual for Suttons to give a good fleet price, as I have found that in Sydney, Peter Warren and Nepean Motor Grp tend to be the lowest.
On delivery, you just need to ensure you you have a camera when accepting and go right around the car. Hopefully it is in an enclosed truck.
You sound like you are the local constabulary in the Creek.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

You'll find Suttons will vary significantly from one dealer to another when pricing. When I bought the Jackaroo, Suttons at Rosebery were very inflexible for pricing even with fleet discounts, whereas Suttons Arncilffe were the total opposite. My brother in law found the same when he bought his work SV6 ute.

The fleet companies have good leverage if they concentrate all their sales with a handful of dealers. You'll probably find FleetNetwork buy a lot of Holdens etc from Waitara too.

The financier would only lend the same amount as the cutoff for LCT, so they had to sell it under that or not get the sale. I still think it's shitty that I can spend ~$58G there and they can't return a call though, especially when they say "I'll find out and call you back in 5 minutes" and you never hear from them again. I could tell my lease manager was getting frustrated with them yesterday too.

Hopefully there's nothing I need to photograph, but I'll be taking plenty of photos to show my money-obsessed older brother who still drives a VS Commodore anyway. I love rubbing in how I earn twice what he does when he has an Honours degree and I didn't even finish my degree.

If anyone asks, I work for "the Government" in the "legal department". I like to keep it ambiguous.

Is it right that when you order a diesel Jeep at the moment, you won't be given an expected delivery date - seems unusual. What would you put on the contract then for delivery date?

I had a "agreement" with the dealer that mine would be delivered mid to late June (ordered in late Feb). We agreed this could not be entered onto the contract as his risks were high with potential delay to shipping, quarrantine etc....At the end of the day, I got the car May 31st which effectively was two to four weeks early. Pretty impressed with an early delivery, even though it was marginal. I would however recomend you read and fully understand the contract as it contains certain major financial risks to you if your circumstances change. Best to write in a couple of conditions such as "subject to finance" for example just in case you need to pull the pin.

Edit.....Worth any wait however as this car is AWESOME!!

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

You should be able to get an expected delivey month, (not date) regardless of the engine. Please note, however, the CRD's are in heavy demand. You can basically get a 3.6 or Hemi straight off the yard. If you order now, the MY12's have finished, and they won't be starting the MY13's till next month, so my guess is a 3-1/2 - 4 month wait.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Just ordered our Mineral Grey Overland CRD today via the buyer/broker. We are being advised of approx November delivery. That's fine, so long as it is here before our Christmas road trip!
I waited 6 months for my XR5 so I'm seasoned at handling these wait times now...

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Got my lease manager to call the dealer today to get the order number. Apparently the dealer is calling Jeep "to see if they have an updated order number on their system". Is this something he should have to do? I thought if he put the order in he should already have an order number?

Also had her stress that I do not want the exterior and interior protection crap which I originally agreed upon but later found out was ridiculously expensive. There's a detailer in town who does a really good job with my XR6, and gives a good discount to us boys in blue (and previously khaki), and from what I read that's just as good if not better than what the dealer is offering.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

If you are leasing, do not get any extras. You want to keep the drive away price as low as possible to the Luxury Car Tax baseline. Remember you are paying tax on everything at that point of sale.
If you want extras, get them added at the 1st service.
