Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Yeah, already been through that drama. Tow bar will be added later. Maybe sidesteps (but I'd put them on myself anyway). Oh, and tow hook. Already got car bra online for ~$200; trip to Alice and back every month or so has really done a number on the front of my '09 Falcon, so the inconvenience of putting it on and taking it off once a month is worth it for the paint protection. Gonna cost me $140 to get my plates remade in US size so they fit the cutout, but even after costing me $280 they're still cheaper than personalised plates in any other state, and no yearly fee to have them.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Is everyone else that has a MY2013 on order being told the agreed price can change if the RRP changes before delivery?

That sounds like a pile of doodoo. I would be telling that dealer to go jump.

That would not hold up in a court of law if the agreed price is written on your contract. Which dealer is telling you that?

My contract doesn't specifically state that it will be an MY13, but it appears it will be a 13 as it's going to come down the line in July and that is the start of the MY13 build, ready for a Sept delivery.

I already have a signed contract with a price on it. There is no way in hell they can ask for more. (they've already stuffed up a new car purchase for me a couple of months ago, they're bending over backwards to make sure this one goes smoother).

Actually, yes they can do that. Or at least in NSW they can, I dont know about the rest of the country. My contract has this clause in it, and it's a standard clause ...

1.2 The Purchase Price may be varied if before the delivery of the motor vehicle, there is a
change in the manufacturer's recommended retail price, statutory charges or applicable taxes
and duties. The Dealer shall give the Customer written notice of any variation in the Purchase
Price. If the Purchase Price is varied due to an increase in the recommended retail price, the
Customer may rescind this Contract any time within three (3) days after receipt of the written
notice of the variation.

I would line out the manufactures retail price increase but leave in stat charges etc. then sign.

After further investigation, yes that is it. Maybe why I got the best prices in NSW.
Surely the MY2013 isn't going to increase by $1000's so I will go with the flow. It would have to increase by a bit to reach the QLD prices I was quoted anyway.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

I have ordered my car in WA (moving there), but live in NSW. You will find that clause is actually a standard form clause for purchasing any car (at least in NSW and WA). Most people just don't read the contract (or are not ordering a car with a long waiting period, so there is low risk and don't think too much about the clause). I would imagine there is a similar clause in QLD contracts.
Interesting you got a better deal in NSW, as I saw a post on another forum, for a good deal from Noosa.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

The more local competition, the trend for more competitive pricing.
I researched just about all the Sydney dealers when I was ordering, and found a significant difference in prices quoted. Several $,000's in fact.

Exactly my experience with pricing in SE QLD/Northern NSW. Some smug dealers laughed at the fact you were seeking discounts, but we persisted and found several dealers willing to negotiate.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

The difference between the dearest quote I received in the first round, and the cheapest after the second round was $7000. And it happened to be the very same dealer.

I only encountered one smug dealer, the others politely declined to meet the quote and I can respect that.
