I initially promised myself that I wouldn't track it for this very reason, but thought I may as well.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

As it is now Summer in the USA, and if the cars have been sitting around in their various yards for a few weeks, there is a good chance that the old grass seeds and other plants are finding themselves in the tires and airvents again, therefore slowing the processing in quarantine again.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

As I picked up mine late May, the dealer mentioned that there were a few ships due into Brisbane during June with undisclosed quarantine issues, not necessarily the cars, but the ship(s) had issues. I'd ask the dealer to check up for you.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Matty,
It would appear your car was found to have a defect during Inspection. That is most likely why it has gone to storage bay, awaiting correction, rather to one of the holding yards.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Here is summary of my order delivery. Ordered 11/3/12, picked up the car 10/7/12. It took 4 months. Dealer got me an unallocated CRD 7days after placing the order. Dealer gave me a order number 23/5/12 (74 days after order).

D1 18//03/2012

Plant release 10/05/2012

Holding yard 10/05/2012

Loaded to rail car 12/05/2012 (2 days in yard)

Unloaded from rail car 17/05/2012 (5 days in train)

Ship departed 02/06/2012 (16 days in yard)

Ship arrived at Port Kembla 01/07/2012 (took only like 7 hours to unload)

Pick up from dealer 10/07/2012. (10 days for prixcar/customs + side step fit)

My Jeep had 18km on odometer at delivery (Sydney). I was suspecting the dealer would use my GC for customer test driving given the shortage of CRD’s but my suspicion was incorrect. I had to wait about 30 minutes till jeep arrived at showroom /fresh off the truck from dealer’s garage. It seems lot of people are buying GC’s, there were 2 more GC deliveries when I was picking up mine, I paid 100% cash and drove it home on the worst road in Sydney in rain .

Here is a pic, very happy with it so far.
Copy of IMG_1129.jpg
Who can spot the exterior trim defect? This defect to be fixed at 1000km service.

What % tints should I go for the GC? I am considering slightly darker than the legal 35% limit tint to give more privacy, however at the same time don’t want tint to be too dark so it is hard to see through windows at night. I am considering 25% solar guard tint all around (quoted $280). Also the manual mentions ISOFIX child restraint anchorage, but I am not able to find these anchors.???

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Recommendation on tinting. DO NOT EXCEED THE LEGAL LIMIT.
Police, at least in NSW are now doing checks on this during routine breath testing stops. Too dark = defect sticker.
Whats wrong with your rear mudflap?

I'd let you off but I'm a super nice guy (plus those fancy tint measuring do-hickeys are expensive and the force is tight). The traffic boys are all over that shiz though.

Also, don't know what the deal is elsewhere, but in the NT you can go 15% LT all windows behind the B-pillar and 35% LT up front. Can go as dark as you want on a strip at the top of the windscreen so long as it is no bigger than 10% of the windscreen and is above where the wipers cover.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

The rules are the same Australia wide. 35% VLT is fine for the fronts, ours match nicely and you do not risk your insurance and legal issues.
I nearly ran over a pedestrian when turning a corner one night in the rain. Could not see anything out of the 20% tint I had under the right conditions. It is just not worth taking the risk.

My rears have an additional 35% on them, making an equivalent of 5%. the fronts are now about a 25% and are fine. I had them done originally around a 5% to match the rears, but as mentioned above, it was a disaster at night in the wet and I had them changed within 24 hours. As Enforcer mentions, irrespective of legal requirements, I would not go less than 25% on the fronts. Not sure if it is the case, but in my experience ALL tints increase the reflection of interior lights (ambient light, speedo etc) that add to the decreased visibility.
