Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Hi all, I'm just after some confirmation, especially from those who tracked their build status on the forum (and correct me if I'm wrong at any point) -

A build status of D1 means the factory has scheduled to build it at some point in the future, right? And the D1 date is the date that they put it on the schedule - it's not the date it actually starts going down the line.

So assuming the above is correct, how long after placing your order did you move to 'D1' status? And how long after the D1 status date did it actually start going down the line?

As you've probably seen elsewhere in my whinges, I paid a deposit on 22 December, even though it's a novated lease, to 'speed up the order process'. They then had to change my colour choice on 20 January, and here we are at 20 February and it's still in PR (pre-release). I'm very doubtful that it will land in Australia in mid-April, which was the last guess I got from the dealer.

Any input gratefully accepted. Cheers.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

D1 usually means it will be down the line within 2 weeks.

Hey mate lease means absolutely nothing, if you get it in around the 4 month mark your doing good. That's me 4 months and mine was not built for me ??? So your on what I would say par.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Thanks guys. My issue with the lease part is that they demanded a $1k deposit to get an order into the system more quickly, which I paid out of my pocket. The lease company finances 100% of the car price, and I apparently get the deppy refunded to me upon delivery. Cheers.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

I only gave a 500 deposit and yes they will refund you. Make sure the dealer doesn't show your deposit on the tax invoice the give the finance company. Seems strange a $1,000 deposit get the order into the system "more quickly".

My advice re tracking is the above comments are true, but expect the standard to be messed up somewhere along the delivery process. Getting to d1 can be a bit of a lottery depending on your build and how that fits in with scheduled production. Once built, some get bogged in quality control, some sit in an unknown train yard for weeks, others will unseemingly miss the boat even though they are at Curtis bay. Panama canal is so congested these days, you can expect a delay there a few days. Then you've got the "quarantine" issues once landed. That said my delivery was fairly smooth and I got mine 3.5months from order.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

My dealer just gave me a cheque back for the balance when the finance company overpaid.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

They said they couldn't lodge an order in the computer system without a record of a deposit being paid first. So it was quicker to pay a deposit rather than wait for the lease company to lodge the order themselves.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

I paid $500 when I ordered and the finance company paid the full amount. I was given a cheque for the deposit. It is normal for dealers to ask for a deposit, but usually $500 is enough, although I remember a few of the guys who ordered Saddle interior had to pay more.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

I jumped on a cancelled order on Friday 24/2 for a Mineral Grey Overland CRD. The salesman told me in was on the docks in Australia then mumbled something to me about some nuts being found in the cargo resulting in the whole shipment being quarantined for a few weeks. Consequently he couldn't advise exactly when they would get it - they were hoping in the next couple of weeks but put 31/3 on the contract to be sure.

Since signing up to this forum yesterday, I have checked the tracking info and confirmed it was unloaded at Port Kembla on 18/2.

My trade in runs out of rego on 4/3 so I want to trade it before then so I don't have to cough up for a greenslip and rego. Fingers crossed the Jeep gets released in the next week.
