Thought it might be appropriate to seperate the discussions in the W2K Downunder thread relating to building and delivery status. It would give a common perspective for those tracking their cars, and allow the other thread to be used for general discussion for Aussies... and others who have an opinion or question.
Spoke to my dealer today. My truck has been picked up from the Melbourne docks/customs and scheduled for delivery to them on Monday morning. Couple of days for installation of towpack, roof bars and basket and I should have it for Easter. So near and still so far. The dealer advised they have 15 new trucks coming off this delivery, so would get mine processed asap, but sure they've made the same call to the other 14 customers also.
TAMERLANE has left Melbourne, was only there about 24 hours, and now is on way to Fremantle, no more stops.
Due in this Sat, 7pm, 1 day late, I may go down to the south mole and take a photo as it comes into the port, but knowing my luck, it'll be stuck out in Gage Roads waiting for a berth.
Can't wait, soooo close now after ordering late Nov..
Pick mine up in the morning. Was delivered to the showroom this afternoon.
Tomorrow morning it will be in showroom condition, tomorrow night it will be covered in dust, dirt and mud. Woohoo
Am I being too confident?
This morning's the day I've waited 5 months for. For those of you who have gone before me, you know how today feels. Up at 4am this morning as I couldn't get back to sleep.
For those of you still waiting, I hear you, been there, done that, but today's my day. Woo hoo and Yeah!
Mine is off the coast of QLD on Aniara, next stop Port Kembla then the the good ppl at AQIS(yes I'm being nice) then hopefully a quick trip to PrixCar at Minto.
Btw Guy's on any Ship out of Panama the longest wait seems to be the stretch over the Pacific, having said that mine is still a long way off it seems!
Had my new Laredo Deisel now for 2 weeks today. It was a long wait, but worth it.
Already done 1,800km country road, freeway, some towing a 500kg trailer, a little off road action and fuel economy showing 9L/100km.
Powerful, smooth, silent. Couldn't be happier. Hang in there guys, it's definitely worth the wait.
I agree Oz. There seems to be several major steps in the whole process
1. Obtaining the Order Number: (Pain Factor ***)
2. Waiting for the Build Status to change from D1 to KZ: (Pain Factor ****)
3. Waiting for the car to actually get onto a train: (Pain Factor ***)
4. Watching the car sit on a wharf at Curtis Bay for sometimes weeks: (Pain Factor ****)
5. Waiting for the ship to Arrive at destination port: (Pain Factor **)
6. Waiting for the car to leave PrixCars: (Pain Factor **********)
7. Finding that the car being delivered is not what you ordered: (Pain Factor ****************)
8. Parting with your money at collection: (Pain Factor *)
9. The Stealer that could give a crap once you pony up your deposit really makes for the experince.
10. Those TV commercials, Yeah I bought a Jeep too...and I'm still waitng!!!!
Great points though allypally, don't know how you didn't give up after point 7!
^ +1. Sorry was being sarcastic. Blackberry was still advertised in oz way after it was pulled from the options. the maximum steel is more like the blackberry now but a but more blue than purple.
I have decided to avoid the pain factors by not tracking it. In my opinion I have no influence in the poor process at jeep Australia therefore decided to act dumb and wait till the car arrive. I ordered in March and dealer said delivery in late June 2012. So wait and see I guess, no point loosing sleep over it. For me there is more important things to than deal with grubby jeep dealer. Its funny how the dealer does not pick up the phone etc after you have signed up. . Perhaps Jeep Australia should offer free anger management course to GC buyers after sign up J
