Consequently he couldn't advise exactly when they would get it - they were hoping in the next couple of weeks but put 31/3 on the contract to be sure.

Since signing up to this forum yesterday, I have checked the tracking info and confirmed it was unloaded at Port Kembla on 18/2.

My trade in runs out of rego on 4/3 so I want to trade it before then so I don't have to cough up for a greenslip and rego. Fingers crossed the Jeep gets released in the next week.
Well I hope you get lucky.......ours arrived in Brisbane on 10/2 on the Tarago and was boat 3 of 3 that had the load quarantined.
Strange story about "nuts" being found" as the reason - surely 3 in a row wouldn't have contaminants. I know before the vessels left the US there were heavy snows that may have left road residue underneath when vehicles were moved.
Latest update was they hadn't yet started to clear the Tarago shipment, the best estimate for us has delivery mid March. That will make nearly 6 months wait.
The AQUIS crew at Minto may be a bit more enthusiastic.
You'll be one of a very small minority that was able to get mitts on a CRD with only a 5 week wait.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Hey guys, a bit of feed back from my experience so far as my car was suppose to be on Monday. Still waiting and should be soon!!!! One of the reasons for the quarantine is that the vehicle over in the states sits in a yard out in the open in a grass paddock. It sits there with the plastic over it which also covers the wheels and the car could be there for about 2 weeks which In that time the grass grows and gets stuck on the inside of the sticky plastic on the wheels.
So they move it and the grass stays!!! I had a letter sent to me from some people from Chrysler stating that every order to Australia will have the same fate so guys expect a wait each time!!!!

The grass grows? Ha Ha Ha.
I doubt it. These cars sit in Detroit, where the ground is either currently covered in snow, or the ground is frozen. They must have miracle grass there, as I dont know of any grass that could grow that rapidly in those winter conditions.

Well I'm only going by the people I spoke to in the states????? As for the other I spoke to prixcar the mob that do the compliance and wash and then arrange for transport and that was the reason for them cleaning before second survey??? So make what you want of it the fact is till chrysler get there shit together every shipment will be delayed.....

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

update I just received relating to vehicles currently in Brisbane - including ours....

"At this stage AQIS still have holds on the vehicles from the vessels Tarago and Tugula. It is doubtful we will see the vehicles released in time for processing this month. never the less we are working closely with AQIS, AAT & Prixcar to facilitate the earliest possible release of the affected vehicles."

I posted this info on the main thread but I spoke to the AQIS guys at Port Kemba yesterday regarding this issue. The grass seeds are airborne, not growing under the wheels and adhere to the sticky protective coating. Every shipment so far has been affected and they are working with the yanks to mitigate the problem at the source. The yanks are going to spray the areas surrounding the storage facilities but the seeds can be carried for quite a distance, so that might not fix the issue entirely.

I'm guessing if jeep are too stingy to print owners manuals, they'll be too stingy to pay for an enclosed storage facility, which to me would be the logical, albeit expensive, solution.

The jeeps from the Tugela unloaded at Port Kembla on 18/2 were cleared and released last Friday.

Re: Downunder - Orders to Delivery thread

Well..... can't believe it. After waiting over 5 weeks in D1 status, my car went from the production line to a rail car on the same day. That must be a record. Normally the car's sit around the yards in Jefferson for weeks before someone gets around to loading them on a railcar.
