Thought it might be appropriate to seperate the discussions in the W2K Downunder thread relating to building and delivery status. It would give a common perspective for those tracking their cars, and allow the other thread to be used for general discussion for Aussies... and others who have an opinion or question.
It's called a COM number in Australia. Tynan's supplied mine within 3 or 4 business days.
I'd say the dealer is the issue, not Jeep. If what I went through at the Rosebery branch of the same chain is any indication. Take it up directly with Jeep.
MY 2012 order book is closed. Any orders now will be MY 2013. Production starts mid late July so an order today will wait a minimum two months prior to being built.
It would appear that those cars that arrived in Port Kembla on the 26th April, onboard the Talisman, have been cleared from Prixcars.
They should be starting to be delivered to dealerships tomorrow.
My vehicle should dock in Melbourne tonight, so I'm hopeful for (but not expecting) delivery to me in Adelaide this month. 21 May will be 5 months from paying the deposit, which reminds me I get that refunded as part of the lease... That will cover the accessories I've ordered from justforjeeps.com and haven't told the other half about yet...
Got a call today from the dealer principal, who informed me that there was a problem with my car, which I was awaiting delivery. He stated that when the salesman went into the holding yard to look at the Jeep, he found that the upholstery colour is not what was ordered.
Anyone who has been following this forum for awhile, would remember that back in January, after getting my build sheet from Milous, I found that they had fitted black upholstery when we ordered Beige. After much to and froing by the dealer, they decided that they would order another Jeep, this time with the Beige seating. Lo and behold, today they realised that the seats were not Beige, but Saddle. They called in the State Rep, and this is where buck passing started between Chrysler Aust and the Dealership. Apparently, Chrysler stated that the dealer had accepted the car, therefore it was their problem, whereas, the Dealer stated that the car was not what they ordered.
There are only 3 variations to the interior of the car, and guess what? 2 out of 3 orders were wrong. My wife was ropeable, as from the outset, she was adament that Beige was the colour she wanted.
After an hour or so of apologies from the dealership, and Chrysler rep hightailing it out of town, we compromised and stated we would accept the car as is if a towbar and sidesteps were thown in. The dealer accepted that.
I really have a bitter taste for Chrysler Australia, who really do not give a damn about the people who buy their cars.
So, we drove out of the showroom at about 5pm in the below. Additional accessories to be fitted at first service.
No words are gonna help on the screw up Mate, but jeez, thats a smart looking colour!! Congratulations. Unbeilevably quick turnaround time from the ship docking on the 26th to delivery. The towbar and rails must be worth over $2k installed?
Another unhappy client let down by the dealer. They should not have put you into this mess, and put you in a bad place when you should be happy. I think the saddle will look great with the colour scheme your car has, but you rightly should be pissed.
I bet after a few weeks (owing to no more issues) you will be a happy camper.
I had a major vent to my contact in CJD yesterday about how pathetic their dealer network is becoming and that they cannot treat people the way they were in regards to the Tow hooks, parts availability and the poor communications on delivery.
Hopefully they will start to give us better service, but I will not hold my breath.
that sucks. you have been waiting and tracking the car and then finding its whats not you ordered.
peter warren has a 3rd party that makes leather seats for GC. Those converted seats actually looked better than factory ones. There were few laredos with seats converted to leather last time i was there. Price was 2500 for conversion from memorey.
The dissapointment was mostly with my wife, who insisted on the Beige coloured interior at the point of ordering.
I personally thought it would show dirt a lot more than a darker colour.
Therefore, I am happy that the dealer was able to come to the table with Sidesteps and towbar as compensation. The Saddle does not distract from the interior whatsoever.
Remember, this was mostly a Chrysler Aust bungle, who stated they would make the change to a pre scheduled build, but failed to do so. The dealer was at fault by not following through to Chrysler Aust, an requested absolute confirmation that the change had in fact been made.
What I found incredible is the alleged statement from Chrysler Aust's NSW Rep who was brought into the dealership to explain and resolve the issue, that they told the dealer that it was their problem as they (dealer) had taken delivery of the car. I am absolutely certain that Chrysler Aust have no regard for their buying customers, as once they have the money, they want nothing to do with them. I also get the impression that some dealers are so frustrated with Chrysler Aust, that they are thinking of walking away from the brand, and replacing it with one that is more willing to work with the dealers and the buying public.
I was told that dealer conferences end up in shouting sessions over lack of part availability, tow hooks and supply of vehicle issues.
What I am reading in these and other Jeep forums including the JeepAustralia Facebook site, regarding the complete lack of any Chrysler / Jeep customer focus is really having me regret buying a Jeep.
There is simply not even the slightest attempt from them to just attempt to resolve an issue amicably.
Is this the sort of crap we are to expect during whatever period we have of owning a Jeep!
Never forget 'Happy Wife' = 'Happy Life'!
As much as my lovely lady can be, if this happened to me, every time my wife got in the car, the interior colour would become a topic of discussion, and I usually keep my car for 10yrs
Having said that, this is my second Jeep and both have been great cars with some usual new car teething, faulty component replacement and general wear and tear. No different to a couple of other brand cars I've been involved with for wife and sons. I think it's somewhat usual. Maybe I've just been lucky with cars in the last 30+ years.
No doubt these forums being public and having people who are proud and care will throw up many bad stories, but today I'm sure there's many more good stories than bad, we just don't hear all the good ones.
This is not unusual for a forum to hear more bad stories than good. Generally the core of members here will say the good and bad and create a community, as many of us are on other forums as well. Then there are the people who are trying to find others that are having the same problem as them and will generally vent and compare stories and experiences, then there are the people who are having problems and are looking for help to fix it.
While it is a common theme to hear about bad dealers, it is no different over at the Ford/Holden/Subaru/<insert brand here> as different people expect different service from a dealer.
I just had a meeting with a long time client. In the company garage was a Blueberry Limited GC v6 in the bosses spot. Apparently he wanted to get rid of is Mazda CX7 and just went into a dealer and bought it. No waiting, not other considerations. He is a happy camper and loves the new car.
I am seeing many around now, so they are popular, I expect we will see more joining us here to vent or say hello.
Quick question, those that have picked up their new cars recently, did the dealer perform all the TSB's and flash updates to bring the car up to spec before you accepted delivery?. I note there have been two TSB's whilst mine has been on the water, one regarding flat batteries and the most recent, the alarm going off intermittently.
I also asked the question and was told that updates were part of the predelivery.
Right now though I notice there is a tsb 08-025-12 relating to the radio software dated 14 April that will apply to ours. It relates to issues with the RB2 radio waking up and draining the battery - a few reported on this forum.
Software on ours is 10.00.10 and the update is 10.00.11.
I've got it noted for the 10k service that will happen in the next month.
