Thought it might be appropriate to seperate the discussions in the W2K Downunder thread relating to building and delivery status. It would give a common perspective for those tracking their cars, and allow the other thread to be used for general discussion for Aussies... and others who have an opinion or question.
Quick question, Allypally. Did the build sheet show the beige seating or the saddle. Curious as to date, I've assumed if build sheet is ok, then all is well with order. In my case having ordered beige, the saddle would equal a v. unhappy wife which will equal unhappy life if they get it wrong!!!
Hope you are enjoying the vehicle after the long wait.
Thanks.
Ross, The forum will only allow you to have one vehicle in tracking and therefore only 1 buildsheet.
If I did hve a 2nd build sheet, it would definitely have shown that the upholstery was in fact Saddle.
Thanks Allypally ... now I understand .... and can breathe easier
Another question. My vehicle has finally got to Curtis Bay. How did you work out what vessel your vehicle was on? I can see a marine traffic site for tracking but can't figure how you use the VIN to get the ship!
Go to the shipping site, enter the customer section, and click on Trace. Input your VIN in the customer ref field and Enter.
If you car is "booked" on a ship, it will give you the details of the ship, it's departure dte, arrival port etc. Once it is loaded, you will see what time it was driven onto the ship.
Hmm. I must be looking at the wrong site. I'm looking at marinetraffic.com but can't see a customer section. Can I ask you for the web site?
Thanks for this help!
Thanks for the reply and site,GlennR. I have tried a few sites including this one but there is no record of the VIN. I'm assuming I have to wait until the jeep is loaded to see it although one of Allypally's posts seemed to suggest you could see it once booked but I've probably misunderstood. Anyway found the Baltimore shipping schedule and can see that there are departures 9,10 and 17 May so I should be able to figure out from vessel departure date in status if I'm patient!
Almost sorry I started tracking this .... its like watching paint dry for extended torture
The cars are sometimes booked a few days prior to the ship's departure. So if your car is at Curtis Bay, and you see the Staus change to VIN info Booking, you will know that it is about to be shipped. You should then be able to login to the link that Glenn posted, input your VIN, and see details of the ship and its dates.
Please be aware, your car could possibly sit on the wharf at Curtis Bay for a couple of weeks, depending on the queue and the ship's ports of call. To get an estimate, take a look at the other (RHD) cars that have already been shipped to see how long they sat on the wharf. It can be very frustrating to watch. Mind you, you will most likely see the car on the ship register days before the forum tracking shows it as departed. The forum tracking can sometimes be a few days behind, which is probably due to the wharf staff not updating the records. In my case, the ship had left port for 2 days before the tracking showed it.
Hi Ross,
Just checking you have got your VIN off Milous? If not, PM him with your order number and he will take care of the rest including build sheet if you request it. Mine was only at Curtis for 7 days, however my ship (the Taiko) has a quick detour to NZ this Sunday, then Brizzy next Wednesday!! (Total 4 weeks at sea that on reflection has flown...correction...sailed by!!)
Welcome to Jeep's Waiting Torture Test.
BTW, After your ship leaves port, you will find that the ship tracking loses it usually within a few hours. When that occurs, use this site. http://www.sailwx.info/shiptrack/
Another question, did your car arrive at the dealership fully prepared? I recall your photos from the yard and it did look a bit dusty, polythene on the seats etc. Prixcars offer the dealership a full preparation and detailing service. Wonder if your's went through the same process prior to delivery, maybe partially to remove shipping oils and protection?
Mendo is correct. Barring Quarantine issues, or any major holdups with installing TSB's, prixcars can clear within 2 weeks.
However, if Quarantine issues, you could wait for a month.
The last batch went through quickly, so hopefully those issues are historical.
Looks like I'll be able to bring my delayed delivery forward from June 21 to June 8. So suddenly it's only 2 and a bit weeks away and the sleepless nights have already started. Just in time for the NSW long weekend too!
I was about to order the rockrails and skid plates from justforjeeps, and the rockrails are shown as "not currently available". There's no option to backorder either, so I'm waiting for justforjeeps to advise if and when they'll be available again.
Don't count your chickens! I got my skid plates fitted for something like 650 fitted by the dealer - I didn't think that was too bad considering the time it takes to fit the fuel tank plates alone.
I got an email from the lease company today - 'please send through insurance certificate of currency showing us as the financier. Your rego number is X.'
I take it that it's not long now then... Didn't hear from the dealership but the lease company said my salesman was away today. The dealer has invoiced the lease company for the car.
Hey I ordered my jeep in April and expect delivery September does that sound right?
Also the dealer is saying he doesn't or won't have a vin or anything till August? Can anyone shed some light on this thanks
You have ordered at a bad time. The Order book for MY12 has closed, and they will not commence building MY13 models until some time in June.
This may mean that a Australian car may not hit assembly until July or Aug. I am guessing here.
Important thing is to obtain an Order number from the dealer. eg: E123456.
Once you have that you can begin tracking, then get the VIN once it leave the assembly line.
