The recovery hook debacle: Its against ADR to have hooks on the front of the car (despite selling it that way on the trailhawk and NZ build cars)
bitbob when asking about the dpf regen failure: I've already spoke to the girl in the service centre who tells me I have to drive over 109km/h to ensure this doesn't happen again!
GMC455 dpf regen failure: There answer/remedy was/is make sure you warm the car up for at least 5 mins before you drive off - need to get the temp up of the engine so that it can burn the fuel off.
We're killing our resale here [emoji1] There again I suppose when these things are out of warranty the stupid things the dealer will be saying is "the part required is (looks at watch to read the hour) thousand dollars". [emoji23]
The SRT in heavy rain thing was my all-time favourite.
I had a 05 300C and the radio had static if the rear window defroster was on, service writer said it was because of the HD sticker on the window, told him it was on the outside of glass...OOOHHH...Ill replace the glass
Me: This one doesn't seem to have the tow package on it. What's the tow rating on the Jeep SRT? Dealer in Columbus, Ohio: SRT's can't tow because the gearing is too low. Why would someone want to tow with a SUV? (I kept a straight face, but it was hard to to bust out laughing)
Dealer in Cincinnati, OH about a New (demo) 2015 SRT: The Red Vapor package puts a blacked out badge on one side of the vehicle, and a chrome one on the other side. They all come that way from the factory. ME: Looks to me like the whole door has been replaced. It is not even the same color. There are buff marks on the back door too. Maybe some lot or transit damage? DEALER: we don't know. We can't check the service records, our computer is turned off. ME: walking out, just amazed.
Here is a good one. "Sir we can't fix your Jeep unless you allow the service tech to drive it 30 miles to his house and keep it there overnight and test drive it around his home, we just don't have time to test drive cars in the daytime" me: all it needs is a flash that's an RRT. Them: we need to adequately test drive the vehicle. Me: the answer is no and don't touch it ill be over to pick it up. Never went back to that jeep dealer needless to say.
So I Own a Jeep GRAND Cherokee 2014 model & just wasted 2 hours of my night driving on a freeway because a qualified keep technician advised me that to clean the exhaust filter I would need to drive on a freeway for at least half hour. Even though the stupid car was in limp mode & is stuck in only 3rd gear, he informed me that it will fix it!
The v6 has electric-assisted steering with unique steering fluid that costs a fortune. The fluid reservoir dropped way below the minimum at one stage within a short period of time. It has been good since then.
The dealer says this is normal. "This fluid is thin like water and it is normal for it to get chewed up..... it will be picked up under normal servicing".
I said that at this rate it will not last until the next service. He says this is why you need more frequent servicing
macarthur jeep rang me today to invite me to a freedom day (some scam??) anyway asked me if I want to upgrade to a 2015? I said I am waiting for 2016 model which is going to production next month. He said that is a myth and next model upgrade will be in 2020.
my son just bought a jgc at a dealer in perth. it was a 'special sale event'.
when we went there we were interested but not alarmed to hear their computers weren't working. anyhow he signed up for one at a very good price-it was there on the lot. FOUR days later they phoned and said that the car didn't exist, it was actually a second hand one. so the contract just lapsed because if they can't supply the vehicle in three moths they can cancel it. of course they had lots of others they could sell him bit not quite what he wanted and generally in more expensive models.
ah yes, the things jeep dealers say.
Sounds like the bait and switch I was subjected to at Melville. Wasn't falling for their bullshot, but I bet some people do otherwise they wouldn't pull it...
I had a dealer blame my Crashcam on the reason my TPMS were not working. Even though the problem started 6 months before I had the crashcam. After I told them they were full of shit, they then blamed the LED ribbon mod (SRT) on the problem, even though I had only done it the week before and the problem existed for the previous 9 months.
They refused to do any further work until I removed both "problems". As expected it made no difference, so I demanded the replace the TPMS sensors int he wheels and the problem went away.
Seems the customers must now prediagnose any problems for the inept service "technicians" to get it fixed right as it took 6 trips to the dealer to finally get it sorted.
