Engine malfunction and ETC lights on together! not a good look!
Coming onto the M1 yesterday, at 90kms/hr and suddenly a loud thump from the front, sounded like a bird strike.
Jeep still running, join traffic, look in the rearview mirror - no feathers, back at the dash and bugger - engine malfunction light and ETC light are lit up. No alarm bongs, and the Jeep is still going, but not much throttle response.
Pull over when I can, lift the bonnet, idles nicely, can't see anything wrong.
Drive off - the thing won't accelerate, pull over again, grab things, shake things - and find the turbo hose blown off the lower connection, down under the radiator top up tank.
The story finishes after I limped into Frizelles Southport at 4.30 pm - straight into the workshop, and 30 minutes later on my way again, very happy and the Jeep running sweetly again.
Their efforts were much appreciated, it would have been a bugger of a job replacing the hose, I couldn't get my hand in where the clamp is, they must have a little midget on the staff or some clever gadget.
There's plenty of deserved dealer bagging happens, but this time there was a very pleased customer driving away.
and by the way, there's lots of oil in that hose……i've got a clean up job down low in the engine bay.
