On Sunday night we drove to my brother's place and on the way we encountered our first major electrical fault.
My wife flipped down the sun visor, opened the mirror and .... ... the vanity mirror light didnt turn on! Naturally my wife was seriously enraged.
How could this possibly happen? Why now when she wants to use it? What are we going to do?
A quick check of the dashboard, no warning lights or EVIC messages to warn of a failure. I didnt have the scangauge to check for error codes.
So a bit of lateral thinking was in order to get us out of this predicament. I tapped the back of the sun visor ... and the lights came on. How lucky is that! We are able to complete our trip and more importantly she could check her make up.
Must have been a stuck micro switch or something. I'm undecided on whether it has worn out due to over use.
It hasnt played up since, though we certainly will keep an eye on it as we dont want this failing on our big trip next year.
PS ... Havent seen any TSB's on this issue.
