Fuel door won't pop open

Hi all,

Re my 2012 WK2 Overland diesel.

I filled up a few weeks ago no dramas. Today, I pushed the button to pop open the fuel door and not a thing happened. usually you hear a 'pop' back there when you push the button. Today, not even that.

I tried while ignition both on and off. Nothing.

I had to open it manually from the cargo area.

I looked in the manual in the hope there was a troubleshoot there. NIL.
I checked for a fuse relating to the problem, nothing there.
I looked at the fuse boxes, none blown that I could see.

I am not even sure if it is operated by wire or remote from the push button but believe I have covered all avenues.

Being the weekend its a pain so I thought I would ask here if anyone has come across this problem before. I'd like to sort it myself rather than taking to a dealer and let them have it for a day. Just a pain.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Fuel door won't pop open

Hellipilot - this thread might help you. It mentions TPMS fuse M29.

Fuel door release button doesn't work

Re: Fuel door won't pop open

Thanks for that link but no go.

Fuse ok as TPM works. swapped it for another 10amp fuse and still no go.

Pulled the switch from the dash panel and wires still connected.

If no more suggestions I'll let the service people have a go.

Re: Fuel door won't pop open

I do not know where the solenoid is. Let me know and I can check it.
Is it behind the dash or near the fuel cap?

Thanks.

Re: Fuel door won't pop open

The solenoid will be at the fuel flap. It is the electro-mechanical device that pulls the pin back to open the fuel flap.
I would take it to Jeep to get it fixed, as you do not want to cause more damage or have them deny a warranty claim.
Sometimes, you can get them to open, by having someone slightly push on the flap when you push the button. The in may be fouling due to pressure from the flap spring.

Yep, I don't touch stuff like that where the car is under warranty.
Had it at Jeep yesterday for the 2 recalls and they check fuel lid.
Actuator needs replacing.

Lets see if they come good.
