Re: GPS points of interest

This makes interesting reading. We picked up our new Overland last week and tried to use the GPS to go from Canberra to Batemans Bay. A simple, standard, short trip. But it took us via Sydney. Tried some other trips, all via Sydney.

Took it to the dealer, who is new, and they had never seen this problem and have contacted Jeep. Wonder how long it is until they get back?

In the mean time, I will be calling the telephone number above and start the ball rolling for our car. Obviously they need more "encouragement" from owners unhappy with a GPS that doesn't work.

Not good enough.

Re: GPS points of interest

It gets better. I just called Jeep and told them my story. The lady didn't know anything about it. Until I asked for her name. Tracy.

Then that did refresh her memory. She doesn't know when the update will come through. It is up to software.

That isn't acceptable.

Because our car is new, I will have to send more details by email to her for a case number.

I will keep you updated.

Re: GPS points of interest

They are simply stonewalling, and passing the buck.
Get the case number, and quote the other case numbers posted in this thread.
They told me months ago that they were aware of the issue, and that it was Navteq's software that was faulty. Navteq, do not configure the routing, that is MYGIG, which is JEEP.

Re: GPS points of interest

After my discussion with Jeep, I certainly got the impression of stonewalling. I have sent an email to them with our vin number to have a case reference number attached.

In the mean time, I have asked for a replacement transportable GPS. We rely on our GPS and there has to be some pain for Jeep knowingly continuing to sell a faulty product. And with no solution or compensation offered in any timeframe. I think this would be a very interesting case for consumer affairs and potential legal review.

I will keep the forum advised of any response.

Re: GPS points of interest

I do not understand why they can't provide a software update that allows routing on unverified roads. It could just simply be a tick the box setting and then most of the issues with the Nav would be gone.

Then surely all they have to do is update the POI's as according to our system, our nearest shopping centre is about 3,500kms away. I better stock up next I visit.

For other owners here who may have had a slight issue here or there, ring up and get a case number now so that we can get this fixed. Otherwise when its time to go on holiday etc, then you will note the big problems that it has and it will be too late.

Re: GPS points of interest

I downloaded and installed the latest MYGIG software 1.126 and it made no difference to the routing method.
This not only effects Australia, but also the US and Canada, as those owners are reporting similar issues.

Re: GPS points of interest

Not at the stage where legal need to get involved.
At this stage it is important that if you have any issue with navigation routing, you contact Jeep Customer Service Ph: 1300 133079 and request they supply you with a case number. When they tell you that they have never heard of this issue before, and I bet they do, tell them that there should be several similar case numbers (you can quote mine 217761) and refer them to Tracey, who if she does not have a mind of a dumb blonde, should remember several similar cases.
The more people complain, the more they will need to do something about it. Also, if anyone does want to raise the matter with Fair Trading, they will have evidence to support the case.

Re: GPS points of interest

We can advise today that after discussions with the ACCC yesterday, we have lodged the officially suggested letter with Jeep requesting the sat nav in working condition. We do not think their routing problems such as sending us from Canberra to Batemans Bay via Sydney (over 500km+) instead of along an old and well known direct highway of approx 146km is acceptable. Especially since it is a well known fault and with no timeframe for correcting "waiting for software".

Based on advice from the ACCC, we have sent our letter with a request for an answer within 2 weeks. After that if we do not have a satisfactory answer, we can hand the matter over to them.

We suggest others do the same thing. We are happy to tell you we have talked to Tracey at Jeep on 1300 133 079 and our case number is C220273.

Re: GPS points of interest

Thats great that you are being proactive in trying to get it fixed.

We need as many others as possible to phone up and get a case number with Tracy so they have better understanding of the magnitude of the problem.

In WA I have the Consumer Protection complaint forms that I will fill out today and send them off as well.

Bungendore, did you send your letter to the dealer or direct to CJD Australia?

Re: GPS points of interest

We sent our letter by email direct to Fiat Chrysler Australia - as the supplier of the goods. It was sent to Tracey, our customer relations contact with full details of our case number.

I have just had an email back from her to tell us to contact the dealer. And I have replied that we will not be contacting the dealer any more as contact with the supplier is what is legally required and that we have done.

In the meantime I have cc'd the local dealer so they are fully in the picture of what is happening.
