To my knowledge, head office is the head franchisor. The dealer network in Australia are franchisees to the franchisor. It is the franchisor's responsibility to make sure the franchisees act in accordance with their contract as they hold the ultimate responsibility in upholding the brand. No different to the franchise structure/pyramid that Domino's, Subway, McDonalds etc perform. With this in mind, it might pay to include a cc to the "Mother Ship" in the US.

Re: GPS points of interest

Hi All, Please see below.. My english is not very good, been immigrated from overseas... I like to email to "Chrysler Customer Assistance", showing contact details at warranty book. it looks like old details...

Hi, I have a 2012 Grand Cherokee Limeted with OEM Navigation.
I have a problem with GPS system, If I find nearest Bunnings or any other POI, GPS inform me 3000km away from Perth here. Also when I go to Bunbury from Perth CBD, It could not find right way... there are new Freeway built 2~3 years ago, but still showing old road which is no longer used. I paid big money for this and always using free navigation from mobile phone supplied by "Navteq", I have been to service for GPS issue, they advise me "have to wait until upgrade" for past 5months.... but still same situation with $3,500 GPS. but I can get new fresh map from "Navteq" by my Galaxy S3 free GPS system.
This is really nonsense and unhappy with Jeep service, I decided to report "consumer affairs" and they requested case number from Jeep Australia.

Please rectify for me and do some action all together....
Does anyone know "Chrysler Customer Assistance" email or new contact detilas?

Re: GPS points of interest

Thank you Vincekim. That is exactly the problem we have and has been referred to a number of times through different web sources as 'routing'. It is one that Jeep Australia has been aware of for at least 6-8 months but has not produced anything to fix the fault. And they continue to sell their product with the known fault.

The first thing you should now do is contact the ACCC. Here is a link to their website: Complaints and inquiries

I suggest you first telephone their number: 1300 302 502. They are very helpful and will step you through what is required, including the formal letter you should write to Chrysler to begin legal proceedings.

You should then write that letter and email it to Jeep Chrysler. This ensures you have a record. As well, a follow up letter, registered post, would also be a good idea.

I strongly recommend anyone else who has had this problem to do the same. The more complaints to the ACCC, the better chance we have of Jeep being forced to fix this known - and ignored - fault.

Re: GPS points of interest

Good advice from Bungendore. Vital you keep a written record of every correspondence, written or verbal, who you spoke to, when, what they said etc..etc... Follow his steps for a better outcome.

TRY THIS TRANSLATION:

Hi, I am the owner of a 2012 Grand Cherokee Limited, which was purchased with factory OEM Navigation.
I have found several issues with this device, relating to POI's (Points of Interest) as well as ridiculous routing when planning a trip. For example, when endeavouring to locate a Bunnings store near me,the system indicates that the nearest store is approx. 3,000 klms from where I know the nearest one to be. I am located in Perth, and can assure you that there are many stores closer to where the system locates one.

There is a Freeway which was opened 2~3 years ago, which is not displayed on the system.
I have found that this system, for which I paid a considerable amount of money, is not what I would expect from such an expensive system, especially when I can obtain new maps, and accurate POI's on my mobile phone, which incidentally is free. That free,up to date phone map is also supplied by Navteq, which leaves me the impression that what you sold me was old mapping, but at a premium price. I am also aware that Navteq simply supply you with maps, and that the POI's, and routing configuration, are from yourselves.

I have been to back to the dealership complaining of these issues and have been advised "you have to wait until an upgrade". This has now been going on for 5 months with still no positive estimation of when the system will be rectified with an update.

I find this lack of correct system function appalling, and demand to know what you are doing to correct the situation as well as the timeline.

Please log this complaint and supply me a CASE NUMBER, as I have made an approach to Consumer Affairs, and they require evidence that I have raised the matter with yourself.

Re: GPS points of interest

I just did a road trip Adelaide via Great Ocean Road to Lorne, and then back to Adelaide

A great drive in our GC Overland CRD - love the vehicle - but I also hate the GPS!

On this trip the GPS:
a wanted us to drive thru a fence into a forest;
b often suggested we take a route involving 100's of extra km;
c just could not accept a planned route involving minor roads;
d thought our vehicle was a boat - had us driving through the ocean kms off the coast;
e could not show true speed
f can show altitude, but not on the map screen which is usually used
g often showed us going along a street a km away from where we actually were.

I dont think this is good enough and I too will be pressing Jeep for a fix. It is silly that I can buy a GPS for sub $100 with free map updates that will do a proper job. I dont want to do that but I might just be forced to.

Re: GPS points of interest

There was a TSB released a week or so ago which may fix the issue where you showed as being through the ocean. However all the other issues I don't think have yet been addressed.
I drove through Victoria backroads last week, and again, the GPS routing was a nightmare. Wanted to route me 100's of Klms out of my way and hrs additional driving. Had to use the mobile phone whereis maps to get me to where I wanted to go.
I am sure Jeep management don't read these Forums (Actually, I don't think they can read) so pointless for me to point out their deficiencies here. I will be again calling them.

Re: GPS points of interest

The other day after getting the vehicle serviced in the Sutherland area (Sydney), I wanted to head to the nearest Bunnings Store - nearest was 1000 klms away in Brisbane. What a useless piece of shit.

When I dropped the car off for the service I mentioned if there was any news on the Sat Nav routing program update. He said he'd look into it and when I picked it up he gave me the internet site of Navteq where I can get map updates at a cost.

As I found the Jeep Service guy searching the interior and compartment for the key slot (to start it) - I didn't even bother going into the Sat nav issue.

That serviceman was useless. He should have at least known that Map upgrades, at least in Australia, are not obtainable from Navteq, but released only via dealerships.
