Re: GPS points of interest

Thank you Allypally, mm 1964 and Richard Phillips. It just isn't good enough.

I would encourage you to take 5 minutes ASAP and call the ACCC direct - telephone 1300 302 502 and quote my case number: CAS 401569 Z8Z6V2. My case was registered with them on 8/1/13. Tell them your story.

The more they see that Jeep have known of this fault and continue to sell their faulty products, the stronger the case will be for a recall and we can put this behind us.

Re: GPS points of interest

I called Jeep Customer Care today and the chap told me I needed to take the vehicle into a dealership to see exactly what my unit is and whether there is an update for it.

He said once I book it in with a dealership I'm to call him and he will call them and instruct them on what has to be done to determine if an update is available or suitable for my unit.

I am so fed up with being continuallytold something different everytime I ring and having to repeatedly take the car to a dealership that does very little.

Re: GPS points of interest

I had a complaint Nav issue to Fiat Chrysler Group Aust and I have a reply from Customer Relations Excutive, he will call to my dealership and request update software version. But I did it last June 2012. I reported all of this issue to ACCC today. I will update my case number soon.

Re: GPS points of interest

Hey Swampy, have we been chatting over the last few days re: van camera?

In any case, will be looking forward to seeing how you get on with this issue. While I had no problems with the nav driving between Syd and Melb, and again between Melb and Perth, I was using the main highways. Now that I've been tripping around southwest WA and out in the hills area of Perth, I'm finding a few oddities, eg. Pinjarra bypass from Southwest Hwy to Forest Hwy (Kwinana Fwy extension) doesn't appear. Also, if I'm travelling along Canning Rd in Kalamunda heading towards Kalamunda Rd and wishing to head down Kalamunda Rd, GPS takes me off Canning Rd and around the shopping centre sections and then brings me back to the intersection of Canning Rd and Kalamunda Rd . The only reason I can come up with is that it is avoiding a 50kph section of Canning Rd, keeping to a 60kph section (although the shopping traffic slows you to 40kph!), but it's adding distance, turns and time to the trip. Simply not logical.

Re: GPS points of interest

Chatting with me re Van camera? Must be another Swampy.

I'm guessing that the small section of road that you wanted to travel on was not verified, so it will navigate you around it.

Lets hope that they resolve the problem sooner rather than later otherwise the Nav issue will be escalated to interested parties outside of Chrysler Jeep Australia.

Be sure to phone the help line and tell them what is happening and ask them for a case number.

Re: GPS points of interest

Hi, I have received answer from "Jeep Customer excutive" as below.

Dear XXXXX
Thanks for your email and the included attachment, showing the current software version of Nav Unit.
This confirms that your vehicle is not currently equipped with the most up-to-date Software.
There is an update scheduled to be released, very soon.
Once available, information will be cascaded to our Dealerships, regarding where they can obtain this update.
I would recommend that you stay in regular contact with your closest Dealer, to be advised when the update is available.
I hope that this email has been helpful.
Kind Regards,
XXXXXX

Re: GPS points of interest

Sounds like that letter is referring to the Nav update 2.136, (TSB 08.065.12) which does absolutely nothing to fix the problem.
Surely these guys can't be that dumb. Or could they????

Re: GPS points of interest

Here in the A.C.T. the Dept of Fair Trade has accepted the case against Jeep. They made some calls to Customer Care, with various case numbers quoted previously and guess what. Jeep didn't call back.

So now they are proceeding to put the case in writing and that will be done this week.

The Dept of Fair Trade has links to this site and these threads so they are holding this in the files should a court case begin.

As well, keep posting examples - it shows a continued line of knowledge of faulty goods knowingly sold.

There are a couple of us preparing a package for the media so anything extra - just keep posting examples.

Jeep has worked on the idea that people don't talk to each other, that the can convince the customer they are the only one with the problem, that this is the first they have heard of the problem, that a fix is "near" but never with a date, and think that this is OK.

Keep posting examples - keep adding your case numbers with Jeep. Share the knowledge so that these links can be supplied to the media when we get all the information together.

Thanks.

Hi Bengendore

Is the A.C.T. the Dept of Fair Trade putting a case together against Chrysler Jeep Australia or is it against the selling dealership?
