Re: Grand Cherokee in the media

I just picked up a 14 Cherokee Latitude with 30K and a ton of options for about 9000 with a 2010 Corolla trade in. I love it. Had to give up my '91 Cherokee way back in 2004 and I'm still sad about it. But I've got big plans for this one, just posted a feed asking for guidance.

Yeah, sorry about that... I thought I was somewhere else. I have been keeping up with the recall tho as it was a factor that caused concern for me. Though with the technical vernacular I'm reading now, it's clear I'm way out of my element. My bad.

Re: Grand Cherokee in the media

Not a direct "in the media" item, but goes on from the discussion about the SRT review and THAT shifter.

Noticed there are a few 75th Ann models being advertised, with the new shifter. Petrol only and no recovery points! Who wants to be the first to buy one and see what the front end of the chassis looks like and whether the US style recovery points can be fitted???

Cars | Suttons Chrysler Jeep Dodge Waitara

I'm sticking with my completely unfounded prediction that these and the SRT are the only MY16's we will see in Aus.

Re: Grand Cherokee in the media

Not sure if there is much of a market for the Durango, I know it has 7 seats, but only in petrol. The wagoneer isn't far off.

I agree - no market for Durango. I'd say buy a kluger.

No, buy something cheaper that the devaluation will fall in line with the damage the road will do to the car.
My old Navara was a cracker of a car, and better suited to the off road stuff than my pretty GC.

I looked at the navara, there were a few things that put me off. The manual clutch plate issue was one, plus my mate had all sorts of issues with window seals and leaks. There are also the well known chassis crack issue.

On fraser island the towies see a lot of undercarriage damage on navs and pathies, they call it 'The Nissan Problem'. And the brake force distribution isn't great in them either, it takes a lot of wheel spin before the system will intervene and catch the spinning wheel. The GC's electronics are far better sorted. There are just two areas I find the GC falls down offroad, the stiff suspension and the approach angle.

Re: Grand Cherokee in the media

Hi Benn0,,,,,Mine was the Thai built auto, I thought the auto was a safe bet Vs the notorious clutch demons, but the power loss through the drive train when towing was HUGE.

And I've seen pics of the 'broken' navaras, chassis' cracked through behind the cabs,,,,,,nasty stuff.

I took mine to a crowd in Brissy to get an ECU flash, DPF delete and 3" exhaust mods,,,,it was amazing the difference with no load in it, but with the caravan on, it was back to 90Kph and 20Lts per 100Km,,,,,waste of money!

As for the electronics,,,,,I did a LOT of research on the WK2 before I bought it, the mods Jeep did to the 2015 model made my mind up. The ZF gearbox was a big plus, cooling system properly specced for towing, but still with the bastard variable output alternator,,,,,,cost me an arm and a leg for a DC/DC charger for the caravan fridge/house batteries.

But, what a car eh! Looks the part, will drag the SRT off of its tyres kicking and screaming lol, that Fiat V6 is a good bit of kit, and the 8 speed box with sport mode is Ideal for towing.
The Suspension I find really nice, I drive a Ford Courier daily, and it's like sitting on a rock compared with the Jeep, so I'm ok with that

It's a Very nice car.

Cheers

Do they use the same as the GC ones?
