Grand Cherokee in the media

Thought a thread for media articles about the GC would be a good idea:

What off-roader should I buy?

Linda is after a car with good economy, comfort, handling and the ability to accommodate at least four adults on rough gravel roads. It needs to be happy off the tarmac and it must also be capable of towing up to 3500 kilograms. While a dual-cab ute is her obvious choice, she'd prefer a wagon body and is wondering if Isuzu's MU-X might fit the bill.
She should buy a Jeep!

Well, SM is not shying away from the critics which is heartening...

Quality problems must be fixed, Fiat Chrysler CEO says

... and I also feel very pleased about the appointment of the new CEO and his background.

I would like to think we have potentially turned a corner with regards to the Jeep brand in this country. As one of my fellow countrywoman once said:

'It won't happen overnight, but it will happen'. :D

Like the owner needs to do a 4 x 4 driver training course and it also sounds like it was stock and not lifted
Not many vehicles in standard form would do much better

Not really jeep, or media, but sort of still interesting as it relates to FCA. Went to the launch of this little baby tonight and got talking to the FCA rep. She brought up Jeep Garage. They know we exist.....ATTACH]53331[/ATTACH]

If the wheels are in good condition then I reckon there's a reasonable market at $175 per rim, bearing in mind that you can get them for around that price brand new ex East if you scrounge hard. Freight on one unit is not so good, which is your advantage.

Leaving the TPMS transducer would probably add whatever they are worth, so they are kind of cost neutral.

So that's the easy half of things.

Considering buyers for a sec... most people wanting to save a bit on tyre replacement probably have those rims, and many who want a fifth for spare have probably oversized and don't want the tyre. So personally I don't reckon the market is so good for them assembled.

Taking them off the rim, you'd have to factor the wear against the going rate... which one tyre outlet offered in conversation at around $200, if they still had nipples. Say at a quarter worn, maybe you could jag $150.

But to reiterate; I don't think that you can add these two figures, then multiply by four. You'd have to take the risk, split them and deal with all the cockheads lowballing you... which is probably not what you want to do!

That's my take anyway Simon.

Cheers,
Steve

Thanks Steve for that detailed reply, this was info that wasn't readily available elsewhere. It sounds like a better situation than I'd imagined. Got plenty of experience selling stuff on Gumtree, so low-ball offers are a source of amusement rather than frustration lol. Negotiations have to start somewhere, it's where it ends that counts, right? ;-)

Might have to see what a wheel and tyre package would cost, to free mine up for sale.. Any excuse... :)

Cheers, Simon

Better off just selling the rims by themselves based on my observation, 4x very good condition 2014 GC rims sell pretty much instantly for $500-600 here, but with even brand new tyres, will not sell for $1000.

Review is published a bit late..... they've all gone months ago.
I tried unsucessfully to get one in November.
Quick check in carsales.com.au shows 1 only used one.

Available only in black? pretty sure I've seen white , grey and red ones before.:slapfight:

You're surprised by an inaccurate article? It's the norm these days.

Why am I not surprised.

Ditto G. Looks like Veronica Johns has been implicated as well.

With regards to the Ram truck deal driven by Ateco in NZ, he (as in Neville Crichton) seems to have moved very very quickly to remove Ateco from the slanging match.

UPDATE 6:45pm: Fiat Chrysler New Zealand parent company Ateco Automotive has advised that former Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Australia CEO Clyde Campbell's involvement in the business has been terminated, and that it is "business as normal" for the distribution of Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat and Alfa Romeo vehicles in New Zealand -- and the RAM trucks import plan, which remains part of Fiat Chrysler NZ business.

"Fiat Chrysler New Zealand is [a] wholly owned subsidiary of the Ateco Group. Mr Clyde Campbell no longer has any association with the company or any involvement in it," said an Ateco spokesman in a statement tonight.

"As soon as the company became aware of the accusations against Mr Campbell the relationship was terminated in a mutually agreed settlement.

"Following the changes in ownership it is entirely business as normal at Fiat Chrysler New Zealand and the RAM project, a part of the Fiat Chrysler New Zealand business, continuing as planned.
