Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Quite frankly I don't understand how Jeep most likely put many of these vehicles in soft sand during the testing stage, yet this problem did not show up!
I'm starting to believe that they had a 'we'll fix it later' mentality due to the financial situation they were in and the fact they wanted to sell vehicles.
Anyone here a lawyer? Class action?

This might have to be the way to move forward....it's one way to be heard loud and clear....false advertising and not fit for purpose...possibly unsafe if the 4wd system fails whilst driving in the alpine regions, lost traction in those environments would be deadly, same goes for out in the deserts for those of us that planned to use them as our round Australia tourer.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Wesnesday I returned to the dealership to have the "fix" applied to mine. The repair was a Dynamic ABS Sensor and is located/accessed through the center console. Took about 2 hours to install. I will not be able to get to any sand for several months so I won't know for sure if this "fix" is the real deal or not. I sure hope it is!!!

According to the service writer, this was the repair that Jeep Engineers came up with and this is the first time this particular dealership performed this repair. In theory, I can buy into this as being the root cause. Time will tell I guess.

Can someone else who has had this problem and drives on sand frequently try to get the same repair so we can see if it works?

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Guys, in september im going to staddie for a week or two and my confidence is shot. Is it worth trying to get the 'fixes' applied before going?

BTW i will be going with others (with a V8 landcruiser) so recovery if i get stuck wont be a problem, just the embarrassment that goes with it.

Hi mate,

I'm off to North Straddie next weekend. I'll be with others too so recovery will be available if needed.

This will be my first time off-road, and I'll be towing a trailer with all the camping gear in!

Wish me luck ...... I'm gonna need it!!

Kev.

If I were you I would try to get the fixes installed ahead of your trip. Good luck!

Unfortunatley Chrysler Australia are still not being clear about what "the fix" actually is.

I sent off a follow up email to them today.

Reply just received from Chrysler :

.... that the update for his vehicle, regarding the 4WD/2WD concern is expected in 2weeks.

That makes it the 10th September.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Why is it always 2 weeks. Seems to be a bullshit industry standard response.
