No doubt others in NSW have had a call today from their dealer regarding this issue as I have, requesting the GC's be at the dealerships next week. It seems Jeep are sending a tech up from Melbourne to do the rounds of the dealers (castle hill, Newcastle and gosford were mentioned to me) to perform a TSB in relation to the sand issue. I think it is just those that have spoken up at this point, not sure if they will be doing it across the board or even if it has been tested at all...

It's good to know that the message has gotten through, I've had numerous communications with Jeep in relation to this and thank them for taking it seriously and not fobbing me off.

Hopefully the TSB works and I can go to Stockton in confidence.

Smile Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I was waiting for someone to post first.

I've had the phone call too and I'm booked in to have the softwear upgrade done next week.

I understand the fix has been tested and all good to go.

So a result.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Any idea if this has been sent to all the dealers or just you NSW guys.
Going to straddie in 2 weeks and would really like to get it done for the confidence

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Apparently Chrysler are sending their master techs out to dealers over the next few weeks to train them.

I would advise to contact Jeep head office, the details are either in this thread or in the one under troubleshooting.

Only issue is it cannot be used on early builds like mine ( may 2011). As they need to completely replace the diff. They are programming the throttle control modules in Melbourne and sending them to Newcastle next week. However I was told that they are having difficulty locating diffs for the early build with the different ratio.
Sorry to put rust a couple of bubbles, the fix is there, but may still take some time for all to receive it. By the way they only have one computer in Melbourne calibrated to reprogram the throttle control module at this stage, but are hoping to roll it out aust wide in a couple of weeks.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

They could keep going and dismantle the whole car and use it to stock parts in that new warehouse in Melbourne.

I'm suprised the diff is not the same in your earlier model Gribbs. Nothing is ever easy.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Do you reckon this is still an issue with latest deliveries?
I picked my CRD Overland up last Tuesday, dealer reckons they have never heard of this issue and not to believe anything you read on the forums. I told the dealer we will soon find out as I'm heading to Stockton Beach weekend of the 21st if my recovery hooks come in. Hope there are some friendlies on the beach to tow me out to where Roadside Assist will actually pick the vehicle up!

Time will tell.
