Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I'm watching this unfold very closely, I posted my story in the "STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction" thread a few months ago. Anyway a few days ago I had my 12000k service. I mentioned my unresolved serv 4wd bogging at 7 mile and asked if there were any TSB updates.

The service manager at Lismore seems unaware of any issue? Is it just me or is there a major lack of communication between head office and the dealers?

My faith in the skills of their service people is waning.

Hey Gribbs, do you have a number and name of someone in Melbourne I can talk to about my serv 4wd error and subsequent bogging. Lismore Jeep are either completely useless or bullshitting me?

Thanks....

Croupier, Melbourne are useless. I would ask your dealer for you states service manager. This is a world wide problem. It's called ignorance is bliss

I emailed the people mentioned in post #92 and got an immediate response, then a few follow emails. Mind you I did mention all the good key phrases such as "fit for purpose", "as advertised", "full refund" and so on.

My dealer's service centre (Central Coast Jeep) stated they were aware of the issue and were awaiting a resolution from Jeep Aus when I queried them on the first service, so far I can't fault them for an honest answer.

I would suspect all cars being delivered could be susceptible to the fault, it seems some don't see the error at all though.

Anyone in Brisbane talked to any of the dealers about it (Salters, Albion etc)?

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

It is great that they are on to it and I think we can thank the 4x4 Australia posts to have put the wind up them. I'm a little concerned that there is no TSB out on this as yet. What they are doing may be just a work-around to show the mag they are doing something. Still, it's good news.

Parramatta Jeep Service Manager knew nothing of this issue last week when I had the jeep in for service.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Just got back from having the sand driving failure softwear upgrade applied to my car. I believe my car was the first to have the flash applied.

As previously noted the upgrade is intended to solve the 4x4 sand mode failure. A senior Chrysler tech came up from Melbourne to my dealer and together with the regional tech they undertook the work personally. I understand the flash has not yet been given to the dealer to do themselves in the future.

I was told that there is not a formal TSB number yet. I was also told the softwear upgrade may get a formal TSB in the future and applied as a matter of course when your car comes in to a dealer for a normal service, but the timeframe for this remains to be confirmed. At the moment I believe it is only being provided to customers who have taken the matter up with Chrysler HQ.

I was told that when sand driving in the future the ABS light will come on (and presumably the traction control light), but these should turn off again once back on the bitumen after 100m or so driving.

I won't be able to get on the sand till late next month, so I'll hold my breath till then....

+1 had exactly the same. Update took all of about 5 minutes, I watched them from the window at the dealer's waiting lounge.

Hope it all works... Fingers crossed

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

For what it is worth, the issue is now on talkingjepaus http://www.talkingjeepoz.com/ which also refers to the other places it is mentioned including 4x4 Australia...

Lets hope the upgrades you guys have got fix the problem - then we can wait our turn...
