Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Took the Jeep back out on the sand for a long weekend to test out the new "module". About 50km's of the driving was in the soft sand at high tide and hi range. No problems encountered. In fact no "extra" warning lights came on that weren't normal before the module was fitted.

My fuel economy will be pretty crap compared to those of you with the CRD, but on the trip I did approx 400kms and averaged 14.9L/100km. For the hemi I thought that was pretty good, though half of that was on the highway. It's definitely no worse with the module fitted. If anything a bit better than my last trip but probably a different mix of highway vs beach driving.

STUCK IN SAND with 4WD malfunction
Hi Brett. What dealer in Brisbane do you visit? Both my GC'S and my friends have been bogged on Fraser Island in the last 3 days. Both have had our vehicles serviced in the last 2 weeks. I informed the dealer that I was coming to Fraser so I'm pretty pissed that the problem wasn't fixed on my car. $495 later after getting my car towed back to the beach. I'll be taking this up with the dealer let alone ruining my holiday as I no longer have the confidence to venture up the tracks.

I'd strongly recommend you contact Chrysler customer service. They are fully across the issue.

PM me if you want the contact details.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Yep, if I had trusted the dealer I would never have got the fix. I am absolutely stunned at how piss poor it is for a dealer to allow this to happen. I have been told that the only way they will give the fix is if you have gone through Chrysler headquarters who will then authorize the dealer to give you the fix.
Email Chrysler immediately to get this sorted (taking it up with the dealer is a waste of time in my experience).

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I would be forwarding ALL COSTS to the dealer to make them pay for it.
They have a duty of care and knowing about this problem and not applying the fix to your vehicle knowing it was going offroad is negligent. It is also negligent not recalling all affected models. How can they play Russian roulette with our cars in their offroad capability.
I would not ask the dealer to cover the costs, I would demand it.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Toyota have just been smashed for not fixing a floor mat in a couple of Lexus marques that might affect the accelerator, Hyundia are hiding the fact there are heaps of brake light failures accross the range and are to date refusing a recall (until the first of many rear end write offs acompanied with a whole host of ambulance chasers start taking them to court). It would surely be in Jeeps interest to issue a TSB and get to fix this issue across all vehicles. If nothing more, it would certainly be a great PR result that would be appreciated by all owners. I cant imagine the feeling watching the tide swallow up my car as a result of Jeep keeping this known fault under the table.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Mitsu are being ripped a new a55 for rust in the top of the rear doors on there Pajeros.

Their "FIX" was not holding up and now they are fitting NEW DOORS !

Glad we had 5 years warranty (and came with 10 years on drivetrain as well)
