Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Guys just wanted to find out which sub $100 air compressor would you recommend. If I am on the sand and want to inflate the tyres back which one would you recommend to get the job done. I don't mind waiting and I only plan to hit the dunes twice a year if that.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Buy one of these mate.

AIR COMPRESSOR Dr Air OFF ROAD PRO FLOW 4WD 4X4 150LPM, 40% Off RRP | eBay

Will be more than up to the job. I use one to pump up my 35" tires on the Patrol.

A sub $100 air compressor will die and you will only replace it with another $100 unit.

Don't be the poor man that pays twice. IMHO

Or this one from Tigerz11 ...

THUMPER AIR COMPRESSOR PLUS KWIKY TYRE DEFLATOR - Tigerz11

I agree with Ticket, dont buy sub-$100. They are generally just not upto it for any long term use.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

A sub $100 compressor is great to have in the garage for fixing the odd puncture on your wife's sedan. However, for airring up four off-road tyres, the poor little thing will struggle and ultimately suffer a premature death. Mine did!

I have passed this info onto my foreman and he has taken care of everything for you. We have run a DTC scan and have found no error codes relating to this issue
Nor have we had any warning lights appear on the dash. We will update this info onto Chrysler and see where we go with this."
I had heard at one point that they were only offering the fix to people who had already encountered the issue, in which case an error code would be logged and show up when they do the diagnostic scan.

However, just because you have not had the problem yet does not mean that you won't encounter it at some point. I do not believe that this is an issue that only affects some vehicles. In my opinion unless you have the fix, you have buggy software which could malfunction given the "right" combination of inputs from the various sensors.

I personally would insist on getting the fix if you intend on venturing onto the sand. Maybe you should try Shona @ Chrysler also - she was really very helpful in my case.

I agree 100% with Brett, email Shona. You don't have any error codes because it hasn't failed on the sand.... YET.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Does the error code stay until it's read, or does it clear after a certain number of starts when the problem doesnt re-occur? Some cars clear codes after a preset number of start cycles if the problem is not encountered in that period.

So it can be possible that the dealer will not see an error code, even if you have had the problem.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

The diagnostic scan on my GC was performed about 4 months and 8000kms after encountering the serv 4wd issue, and the error still showed up. Not sure if there is anything special about the official "diagnostic scan" compared to what info you could get through using an ODB interface though...

I'm getting a new module fitted as I write this thanks to Shona, she has been excellent to deal with and restored my faith that I'll have someone to turn to when the dealers come up short.

Good to know.

Mine has an issue with the TPMS. After about 25-30 mins at freeway speeds, 105km/h or higher, the TPMS light comes up flashing for over a minute, and then goes solid. According to wk2jeeps, this indicates a fault. Once you drop below 80km/h it goes away after about a minute. It last happened in September after a return trip on the M4, and can be replicated pretty reliably.

As it's in for its 10000km service next week, I was thinking about taking it out on the weekend down the M5 to trigger it again. Though if it's keeping errors, then there should be 4 instances of the problem recorded.

This is a base system on a Laredo, so no other hints as to which wheel is suspect. Pressures are correct each time it happens and it never occurs at normal speeds.

still no reply from Shona. Tooves did you get the issue happen to you or are you getting this install regardless.

The problem is when I ring up Shona is always on the phone and never returns my calls or maybe some one is not passing on my message.
