Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I hit Stockton for a few hours today and had no issue. Yes QL and My12 too. (Two custom front tow hooks, still chuffed about that )

However, I did dropped the pressures down to 1 bar (15PSI for the older guys) on 275/55/20 just in case after the last few days of hot weather. The Coopers did well in the southern part of the beach which is quite soft.

Only in qld around Xmas the Jeep didn't like a beach access road and had thrown a ABS/traction light after some very deep sand. It went away after a stop and start.

Mine was done at heartland castle hill back in September. Had my gc on the beach at port maquarie yesterday and no problems.

Castle Hill, Central Coast and Newcastle all had the engineer attend from melbourne to do the first round of fixes.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Ill do a longer writeup later, but thought I'd post this photo on Lighthouse Beach last week.

No issues - car performed great in the sand with about a 10k run down the beach and back. A relief I must say, but it looks like the "fix" has worked for me.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Oh, I meant to add this information regarding which warning lights I had while beach driving in sand mode :

When in sand mode, the Electronic Stability Control is automatically turned OFF and the indicator light is illuminated on the dash (rev counter dial)(Labelled "23" on page 158 of the owners manual).

In addition, the Electronic Stability Control Activation/Malfunction indicator light is illuminated (Labelled "4" on page 158 of the owners manual).

Once back on sealed road and in auto mode, my GC takes about 1km of driving for these indicator lights to go out.

Hope this helps.

GM

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I literally just got off the phone with Shona from CJD regarding my module fix. She explained (as did the service manager) that the abs may still illuminate if the conditions create (i.e. soft sand) the failure. Without the module fix this would be when the 4WD system would have shut down, with the module fix the 4WD system will continue to operate although the light will still illuminate. There is a software fix being worked on to stop the light from coming on and all those who have had the module fix will be contacted to organise the new software flash. But the main thing is that it will continue to operate in 4WD mode.

Buried in work for the next few weeks, then hoping to try and get buried in sand

Just booked the car in with Heartland Castle hill to get the module installed. They are the only ones in Sydney metro who understand remotely what we are talking about. He mentioned that this was a recall. I wanted to argue and say if it was why hasn't any other dealer know about it but I thought better of it and kept my mouth shut.

The bad news is that the car won't be ready for sand use in port macquarie next week. Do you guys think that I could take a chance I will have max trax with me? Can't I shove them under the rear wheel and pray.
