When mine was done they said it would take 3-4 hours also (I'm sure it doesn't really take that long).
Mine took about 10 minutes.

Including walking time.

Guys just wondering what techniques you employ to clean the bottom of the car after beach driving.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

A thorough high pressure clean.
You will most likely be dropping sand on your driveway for weeks afterward.
When I was last on sand, I spent at least half an hour lying on the ground with a high pressure cleaner spraying every crevice I could find.
The salt is the killer, not sand. However, both seem to go together.

Depending where you are there are some good underbody car washes near beach driving locations. Otherwise, a sprinkler underneath your car and move it around every 10 minutes or so works well too.

Going to port macquarie on Monday. I won't have access to my high pressure cleaner for 5 days or so. Will hunt around for under body car wash there.

Hey Mendo,

I am heading up to Fraser on Sunday. Will be staying up at Orchid beach.
Was wondering if you ventured up that way on your recent trip how the conditions were?
If you went up to Sandy cape, what was the bypass track at Ngala rocks like, was it passable?

Thanks

Uncle in law/retired mechanic/full time offroader gave me the following tip.

Diesel/water mixture in a spray bottle and apply to all areas underneath car before sand driving. Still needs to be spray washed after to get the sand out.
Should be noted that his good lady never goes off road with him anymore, something about the smell:-)

There was a Carlovers that had the laser wash and had the underbody spray when I was up there about 10 years ago. Took my GSR lancer on the beach and needed to get about 1ton of sand from it after I got bogged
