Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I also had my "Stuck in Sand" fix done at Albion on Monday (2011 CRD steel Springs). The one thing I have noticed is that the "bump" I was feeling when taking off (once the gear box was up to temp) is now gone. (for good I hope)

She is obviously a very professional operator - CJA needs many more of her!

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Is this still an issue on MY13? May get on the sand this weekend and want to know if i'm at risk?

If I am, the recommendation if you get the error is to put it into 4wd low and you can drive in that setting?

If you get the error does it cause the car to suddenly stop or will you see it, realise you are now in 2wd, roll to a stop, then engage 4wd low

Only in qld around Xmas the Jeep didn't like a beach access road and had thrown a ABS/traction light after some very deep sand. It went away after a stop and start.
Nice dude. Can i ask where you purchased your coopers? is time for a new set and I am finding it hard to get some awesome rubber

Any of the jax dealers can get them in and there is a list of the authorised dealers on the coopers website. Plenty of independents can get them in, just google cooper tyres sydney and start ringing around. So far, I have been quoted between $350 to $440 per corner for Zeon LTZ 275/55/20. No one has them in stock, they all have to order them in and all have said it would only take a day to get them in.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi All,

I got an email from Shona at Chrysler today. She said Jeep has released an official software update to fix the sand driving issue and it will be available from all dealers from tomorrow. Hopefully this can now be applied to all vehicles during their next service.

I wondering about this as well since I also have a MY13. Bit hard to test around here, guess I'll have wait till I get back to visit the oldies and my mates in cronulla.

Any chance you could PM me a copy of the email or post it? I am booked in for my 20k service on Tuesday and it will be a lot easier getting the dealer to apply the fix if I can reference some correspondence. When I raised it at 10k, they claimed to have no knowledge of the issue.

Cheers

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Spoke to the service manager today. He advised that the replacement module for the stuck in sand issue is apparently for vehicles with a diff ratio of 3:09. Mine has the latest software and a diff ratio of 3:45 so the module is not applicable apparently. Shona from FCJ was going to contact them today before the service so I'm assuming that is correct.

I don't get the sense they're fudging, so it is interesting that the problem is attributed to a specific diff.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

So, does that mean those vehicles with a diff ratio of 3:45 (pretty sure thats all Overlands) don't get the problem or is that they just don't have a fix for for vehicles with the 3:45 diff ratio as yet?
