Thanks for the welcome, we are with Suttons at Rosebery, they have taken the first step of booking the car in for checking. We also rang Tynans at Kirrawee because they are closer to home. They didn't really want to know about it, just said they know about the problem, but there isn't a fix at this stage.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi,

I just recieved an email back when I asked for he TSB.

"Unfortunately, the TSB has not been released and we are currently querying the expected release date with engineering in the US.

Had a TSB been released as scheduled, it would visible and available to all authorized Dealerships, with access to our Global Repair interface.
Any workshop that is not aware of the concern, should be seeking out their Regional Servicing Representative for discussion, not ignoring the concern or playing it down.

It is disappointing that to date, we have not received the approved "fix," but you are definitely in my list of owners to contact once the solution is available."

Looks like we are all in for some more waiting.........

Hmmm, I dont recall any other members here using them.

The advice from Chrysler is :

Any customer who believes they are experiencing this concern, should ideally make contact with the local Dealer and have their vehicle booked for a Scan Report to be obtained, this is required to confirm the condition and is necessary before any remedies can be applied.

Customers who contact the Customer Assistance Centre, 1300 133 079, are initially referred to a local Dealer for the relevant Scan Report to be obtained.

Once a Scan Report is supplied to our Head Office Technician for verification, the Dealership is then provided guidance and advice on the required steps to rectify the concern.

Good Luck.

The problem with that approach by Chyrsler is that you have to have been a victim of the fault for the scan report to show anything. I haven't had that misfortune because I haven't taken mine on the sand yet, and won't until the permanent fix is applied.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

GUys. My jeep is at heartland castle hill. Just got a call from them that no fix (no software update) can be applied because when they plug the jeep into the computer there is not update for it to grab. Therefore the issue isn't related to my car.

What should i do I travelled 1 hour to be at castle hill and they cant apply the patch.

They have tried to manually override it but they couldn't

What should I do?

I received the same response from the same dealer a few days ago.
Unfortunatley, you have 2 alternatives.
* Call Jeep Customer Assist and complain. All this will do is log you as someone to advise when they release a fix
* Wait until they sort it out with a TSB.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

As per my previous post, there are only 2 people in Australia who can apply the fix and have the software to flash the module. I suspect that all CH Jeep are doing is to see if your software is up to date. As Ally has advised, ring up Jeep Customer Assist and complain, then sit tight and wait. The delay is from Jeep HQ in the USA, so the local operation can't do jack until HQ releases the fix to them to release to the dealers.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

If you are not at the location of the only 2 people in Australia that can do the update, the only way is to insist on getting a replacement module pre-loaded with the fix. Of course, they will have to send the module to your dealer first and this will take time, but this is the solution that most of us who have had the fix applied have been given.

I wasted the entire day for nothing on top I have left numerous messages for Shona or Tracy to call me but not a single call. I have never ever been able to get in touch with Shona. Whenever I call it get Brett and he says Shona and Tracy are busy leave a message and I will get them to call you and the call never comes. How do you guys get in touch with Shona? Is there a direct number?

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

It's good to see so many applying pressure on FCA. It is having results and I'm sure a TSB will come out in due course. Because I haven't had the problem yet, touch wood, and don't do a lot of sand work, I've taken a back seat. I'm a bit wary of quick fixes. Where the solution is not obvious, the usual thing is to determine what part is over stressed and de-tune whatever is stressing it. I hope this is not what Chrysler is doing although it may turn out to be the only fix. In the interim, I'll be taking it easy on sand until a TSB comes out.
