Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Yea, they moved the Sport mode to the shifter. Still though, it would be interesting to find out what the difference between the "Sand" mode and "Mud" mode is since in our generation, the modes share the same settings...

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

It most likely is the fix for the sand issue.
The problem they are now facing with us, is they they are trying to work out how to run both programs via the single setting.

Simple - just install a new dial and shifter

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I think we are reading too much into it.

1. The new shifter probably already came with a programmable button, and sports mode seemed more appropriate there.

2. Because of the above, there was one spot free on the SelecTerrain system, so they split sand and mud up.

The thing is what is the difference in those settings on the 2014? It would be illogical to "just split" them up because of the extra space on the dial. I think the real problem here is that there IS a needed difference between the 2 settings. I agree that the shifter is the logical position for the sport mode though.

If what you say is true about "just splitting" them because of the extra spot, then the settings would be the same. If not then what are they.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

One thing I can say is that the temporary fix that some of us have been given is "incomplete". For example, the "serv 4wd" error does still occur even with the fix (but with the fix you don't lose 4wd). Shona has assured us that when the official fix comes along the error will not occur at all. I think that the temporary solution to the problem was locking the centre diff in 4hi sand mode (as I found out on my recent trip to Fraser Island).

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I wish they had originally come with a locked centre in high sand. Much more logical to have a mechanical connection that is already available to be used than by making the computer do more work than it needs to

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

All I've been able to find is that the 2014 has had the "Selec-Track system, retuned "

Hi Guys

Seems the discussion on this topic has died. Has anyone heard about any official TSR coming out from HQ? I still don't have the temp fix? Tracy and Co have forgotten me after assuring me they will get back to me and I have been very busy to follow up.

I haven't heard anything new yet. I'm afraid to take mine onto the sand which sucks since I'm finally close to a few beaches this year.
