Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I'd buy the 14 if you can wait. Should have most niggles sorted by then. Why buy a 13 when it is about to superseded?

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Depends how long you are willing to wait!
I have had my grand on Moreton and Fraser twice. Very capable vehicle. I have he 20inch rims and had no problems in extremely dry and deep sand (apart from one incidence of serv 4wd at Double Island Pt).
I would definitely recommend the quadra lift for those islands, or a more economical alternative get a 2 or 2.5 inch lift (otherwise you'll be bottoming out in the inland tracks for sure).
I can vouch that the sand mode fix works from personal experience - you will see the error on the evic but maintain 4wd. Whatever model you get I would insist on ensuring your vehicle is delivered with the module fix as part of your negotiations.

Id wait for a '14.

And from hard won experience, I'd be going to the dealer with a big long list of things you want confirmed - written responses. Like the australian cricket team. And if the dealer won't respond with written answers - send them home!

1. Is the sand mode issue fixed;
2. Will my GC come with recovery hooks;
3. Do I get a full size spare;
4. Do I get full hard copy owners manual;
5. Do I get full hard copy instruction for radio;
6. Do I get a rear recover hook;
7. Do I get a loan car if parts are not in stock or the car breaks down;
8. What tyres are on the car;
9. Does the navigation system work;
9a. Are the DRL fixed;
10. When will I get an order number (will you lie to me about delivery);
11. etc etc.....

Oh, and make sure you include the front recovery point as part of your negotiations.

I apparently have the interim sand module installed now though! Now to try it out without getting potentially (though unlikely) stranded...
Glad to hear you have the "fix" exlr8. My GC has been fine on the beach since I had the "fix" applied back in Spetember.

This does worry me a bit though. The last advice I have from our friends in Melbourne was that the final solution is due on 22/3. Just a week out, I wonder why you were offered the temporary fix and not just asked if you could wait a week or so...

I got a response from USA a week or so ago and they were still not willing to commit to a date.

I might follow this up....

Hi GMWK2

Who is your contact in the U.S?

Are you willing to share so that I can query the Nav issue?

PM me if you can.

Apparently if you run a after market company Jeep Australia will contact you direct and get you ECU sent o melbourne and the sand issue is fixed but if you are one of us they seem to know noting about it

It sounds like Jeep don't give a flying continental about customers once the rubber hits the road.
I don't think the 8 speed box is worth paying a lot of extra for but if it's just a matter of waiting a few more months on top of the 5-6 months you may have to wait anyway, I would wait and put the money into some CBA shares in the mean time.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I was waiting for the '14 but there are few things I don't like so went with a '13 - very happy (apart from the nav issue but then I also haven't had on the sand). Unless they have one with everything you want in stock you would end up with a '14 now as they would have to order

damn...i wish I had this list before buying. however there is high demand for GC therefore jeep dealers not going to muck around with customers who ask too many questions. My experience was that the dealer will say any lie to get the sale done.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

1. Is the sand mode issue fixed;
What problem ? Jeep AU do not know what you are talking about

2. Will my GC come with recovery hooks;I am sure the afterthought one will be just as practical. I bet it is the same setup as the current models as they are "Export" and thus comply with the pedestrian safety BS from the EU

3. Do I get a full size spare;
Yep, it will be the same as the current models.

4. Do I get full hard copy owners manual;
I got one, you didn't ? I would be hitting up your dealer for the books.

5. Do I get full hard copy instruction for radio;
I also got one of these, I would just keep on them, as they will not give if you do not ask

6. Do I get a rear recover hook;
They all have them, except when the stupid dealer does not put in on when the towbar is fitted

7. Do I get a loan car if parts are not in stock or the car breaks down;
Depends on if your dealer likes you or not. You may need to kick up a stink with Jeep AU to cover a rental

8. What tyres are on the car;
I bet it will be the same crap 20" Khumo's we got on the current models

9. Does the navigation system work;
Depends on the mapping system in the new head unit. I would hope they have, but I would not hold my breath.

9a. Are the DRL fixed;
Most run the LED Audi strips, so I would say yes

10. When will I get an order number (will you lie to me about delivery);
Absolutely they will lie, deceive and play games. You will only get your number if you hassle the crap out of Jeep AU and your dealer.

11. etc etc.....
Jeep AU is still run by Clyde who seems to suffer from NFI. So I would not expect any better service experience, or them giving a crap.
