Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I think this problem only relates to some models in the '11-13 builds. I have not heard anyone mention it on the '14 builds.

Has anyone here had experience with taking their SRT on the beach / sand?
How did it go, and would the current issues being reported in this thread affect the offroad capability at all?
One concern I would have with the SRT is ground clearance being too low for the inland tracks. I haven't bothered to look up the SRT specs, but from memory I thought it had the rear ELSD so the 4wd system is probably OK. No low range but you have plenty of power and torque.

Question re the "sand fix TSB". I had this done at last service. I noticed today that when I switched to Low Range, that the Traction Control disable light was on. I don't recall this being on before when using LR although I know TC is partially disabled in LR. Everything seemed normal despite light.
I had a once off Service 4WD light recently which went away after ignition cycle and I assumed was a glitch. So now, not sure if I have a possible LR problem, whether this light was always on and I did not notice...possible as I was pretty focused on driving last time in LR ( prior onto flash) or whether this a new, normal behaviour.
Advice from those with fix appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I wouldn't be surprised if that Traction Control Disable warning light is a normal condition in Low Range.
It also lights up if you select Sports Mode.
I think it only partially disables the Traction Control.

Thanks for reply, Allypally. Nor would I as the manual says the TC is partially disabled in LR. I have seen the TC light in Sports Mode as you point out. I just don't recall seeing it in LR before so need someone with fix to check behaviour. Suspect it is normal but glitch with Service 4wd makes me wonder.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

When I booked the car in for the service and told them I wanted the sand fix, they said ti was just an update to the ABS.

Is there anyway I can tell if the sand fix has been installed??

I live next door to Fraser Island and it would be a shame to get bogged on the first trip in the new vehicle. As I usually go solo I have no sure way to guarantee a quick extraction if I do bog.

Thanks.
Would also like to know. My service Centre wouldn't confirm or deny if my GC was fixed or was even affected.

Definitely come on in low range for me when I went up to Craigs hut at the start of the year.

Ground clearance is the reason I got rid of the Commodore SV6 in favour of the Jeep. Fantastic handling road car but I got sick of gritting my teeth going over speed bumps.

Yes, the ground clearance will be an issue
I'm coming out of a falcon G6ET and didnt want to lose the roadgoing manners ( and grunt) so went for the SRT
Might have to stick to the windy mountain roads

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Can now add another Jeep Grand Cherokee MY13 that had the Sand Mode issue with SERV 4WD and numerous others messages displaying.

All occurring after having contacted Jeep Customer Care and then taking it to a dealership noting I believed I needed this fix applied as I was organising a day on the sand.

Absolute madness that I don't get this TSB applied unless I specifically go into to a service centre and ask/demand to have it done.

When is Chrysler Jeep Australia going to wake up and perform this TSB as a recall rather than this idiotic manner?
