They don't get to service my GC now, I use to work in the industry so if they try to F me around with warranty I will put them through the ringer, also I'm more than happy to go in there at there busiest time and start to raise my voice, with the damaged wheel nuts I told them they had better get them by the end of the week or I would walk on to their front lot and swap my damaged one for new ones off a display GC, how strange I got a call 2 days later saying they had the new nuts

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

The answer may be in this thread but can I ask if of those who have had the sand module installed, have you had any further issues in the sand? I'm off to Fraser this weekend and have not had a chance to try the module in the sand as yet. If it fails over there I don't have the words to describe my... Let's call it dissatisfaction.

I went for a 10 day stay on Fraser after having the replacement module with the temorary sand fix. I was told that the serv 4wd error could still occur, but that 4wd would definitely stay activated.

Well, I can confirm that the 4wd definitely stays engaged (see the picture). I had the error occur twice (both times on the track to Wathumba creek on Fraser) but the vehicle continued to perform as expected. I also had the error occur again last week up at Double Island point, and again everything worked as expected.

Where are you staying on Fraser?

Thanks for that. So if the error occurs on the display, don't panic. I also have a front recovery hook now for assurance...

We're going to rough it in a villa at Kingfisher... :-)

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Yeah we stayed at Kingfisher earlier last year before I had the sand module fitted. Luckily I used low range most of the time so didn't encounter the serv 4wd issue there. The inland tracks around there get pretty rough particularly when it has been dry, but it is great fun!

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Urgent help needed. My useless dealer has just rung saying they don't have any idea about the sand driving fix and can't locate a TSB for it. I have it at home but can't get it and can't locate it on wk2jeeps. Can someone quickly post up the TSB no. so I can ring and tell them how to do their job!!!

Cheers, Matt.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Hi, to help with the sand driving, it is possible to deactivate the Traction Control completely.. to turn it off? I am considering buying a diesel GC but will not use traction control in sand so want to be able to disable it.
Thanks

Hi Bloggs
There is no button to turn off the TC, there is a button that backs off the TC also depending which mode you are the TC works more or less.
You could pull the fuse to disable TC but with all WK2's having open front diff's (TC used to manage wheel spin), and depending on model and option packs open rear diff's completely disabling TC may cause you more problems than it's worth

Thanks. After much sand work in some awesome deserts, usually driving Toyotas, Nissans and Land Rovers, I learned to not use TC in sand. The vehicles with TC had issues in soft sand whilst the rest of us drove the cars to a better result. I want the wheels to spin on occasion and TC removes one of the tools of sand driving - that wheelspin. When I can turn TC off and have diff locks I am happy to go anywhere.

It would seem a Grand Cherokee, even with that nice diesel engine, is not something I should continue to consider. It had been at the top of my list until this conversation. I have the Simpson and other Aussie deserts in mind and want to drive the car myself, not let Jeep drive the thing for me

I appreciate your time to answer my query.

Regards
Bloggs
