Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

So glad I have read all this . My Overland built 12 month 2011 did this twice but I was able to restart the jeep and it went away but I have only been on sand twice and not for long [about 500 meters]
I am booked in for a 30,000 km service Wednesday so I will definitely mention this now.
Only other problem I'm having is sometimes the engine winds over but won't start first go. [happened about 6 times last 6 months]
Thanks great info.
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave,

I did have the problem you describe a couple of times with the hemi.
When it happened to me the Jeep was parked on a fairly steep hill. It also blew quite a bit of smoke. I've since discovered there is a TSB covering the smoke on startup issue and apparently it is a problem related to starting on a slope. I haven't bothered to get it done yet as I usually park on level ground. Not sure if this fits description of your problem...

Hopefully you do not have any issues getting the serv 4wd TSB applied!

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

All done
Updates applied and seems good now.
Dealer knew about all the updates without me asking.
I cant fault Prestige motors in Bundaberg .

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Interesting on the smoke issue mine was given a new short block at 24k to rectify the issue.

Hi Guys,

NOTE: This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with the QUADRA-TRAC II 4WD

System or Two Speed On Demand Transfer Case (Sales Code DKA) and the

following:

230MM Rear Axle (Sales Code DR1) and Electronic Limited Slip

Differential (Sales Code DSF)

230MM Rear Axle (Sales Code DR1) without Electronic Limited Slip

Differential built after May 1, 2011 (MDH 0501XX).

195MM Rear Axle (Sales Code DPM) (all 3.6L engine equipped (Sales

Code ERB) built after May 1, 2011 (MDH 0501XX).

Mine is without ql just a normal JGC WK2 2012 normal Springs. Does it apply to me?

Yes it does, and don't let your dealer tell you otherwise
I always print a copy of the tsb, take it in and say "I need this done"

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Yep - mine was done at heartland castle hill - the first done in the country. The service foreman is a big fella with a beard and he should be across the TSB. The idiots on the service desk will probably look at you blankly....

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Ok just dropped the car at castle hill. The service desk guy, refused to take down the the tsb I wanted them to apply. He said they would will figure it out and asked if the error was still displaying. I said no. Then he went on to say sometimes sand gets into the connectors and there isn't much one can do. I suggested to him that there are a lot of people who have had this issue and got it resolved so don't call me and say you found nothing. Let's see what happens this afternoon. I personally think that a service man should be Manning the reception.
