Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

I suggest everyone does this quietly, otherwise none of you will ever get any resale value. This is how we should proceed if you wish for it to be fixed.

Everyone send a letter to Clyde.Campbell@chrysler.com

State that the vehicle is not fit for purpose as outlined in section 54 of the Australian Consumer Law and you are requestng a refund under Section 257-263 of Australian Consumer Law.

IF GMWK2 can upload the letter stating they have no fix than this is a cut and dry case, you will all be entitled to a refund of the full purchase price.

This will definitly scare them into doing something about the issue immediatly. This effects every Jeep Grand Cherokee from 2011 onwards. This also proved that Jeep is using false advertising, and the ACCC can makde them pull there adds.

Chrysler FIAT MUST TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY. If they dont, they will lose millions in refunds, and you will all have been able to get a refund for the negligence.

I must state, I am not a solicitor, however if you read the ACL it is pretty cut and dry. Not fit for purpose is a MAJOR FAILURE according to the law, and allows the consumer to choose, a refund, a replacement item, or a reimbursement for the drop in value of the item due to the major failure.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

someone should draft up a letter that we could all use then send it off.
would that work?

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

This question is directed at MILOUS, the wise one for all things Jeep. (Or for anyone else that may know).

Is there a method or routine to reset the 4WD system and clear the error after the SERV 4WD message has appeared?

As an example, in my old jackaroo you could clear ABS errors by pumping the brake 6 times within 3 seconds of placing the key in the on position.

It could be a valuable thing to know to get out of trouble.

The email I received (in part) is below :

Please note that the Service Bulletin being mentioned is not a fix for the 4WD concern that you have also advised. The Service Bulletin details a Software Upgrade for the Suspension in your vehicle. The two are not linked.

With reference to the 4WD issue, we are awaiting direction from the US and I expect that your correspondence may hasten this resolution being provided.

While you could email Clyde Campbell, I would encourage you to email :

Shona Ruse <Shona.Ruse@chrysler.com> (in melbourne)
'todd.goyer@chrysler.com' (todd.goyer@chrysler.com) (in the states)

I know these emails work and Shona has had the pleasure of my witty correspondence over the last few days and I'm sure she would be thrilled to receive another email on the topic.

Re: Grand Cherokee + sand = FAIL

Just a thought, I haven't had the sand fail thing yet, touch wood, but I did notice that the electronic stability control (ESC) was working overtime, brrrrr brrrr all the time when driving in other's wheel tracks. Maybe this system is overheating and registering as a 4x4 failure... dunno! Next time I might try driving with the ESC off to see what happens.

That's a good observation, and would be interesting to see if anyone that has the problem can avoid it by turning ESC off.

ESC turns off in sand mode anyway. The ESC OFF light illuminates on the dash

My ESC was off, it turns off when you select sand/mud.

True! My light was on too but it was still making that ESC noise so something was working hard.
