Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

V6 limited should we around 58-59k I am thinking for a great deal. Would kill a trail hawk off-road I would think as well.

It would be nice if they included quadra lift at that price ...highly doubtful.

The sales lady at Cricks seems to think that QL does NOT necessarily have to be fitted at the factory..? Would you agree?

The ORA II kit is only available on the diesel so any off-road goodies I want will need to be added aftermarket.

But lets hope I do get a ridiculously good deal on a Grand limited. I feel with the Chief add-ons and QL, the driver will be the only thing to blame if I get stuck on the beach

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Sorry yes I was thinking without quadralift, I think it is factory only.
I bought a Blackhawk from Cricks and went with Steel springs, less things to worry about. Bash plates etc i bought aftermarket later.

$3,250 rrp but I'm sure they could massage that price a little.

Would dropping down to a Laredo and speccing that get you a better deal?

Certainly worth asking the question, but we're pretty set on the extras that the limited offer.

I'll see what Cricks can do, but it might be the case that finding a ltd with QL in the colour we want is hard to find in stock. Similar issue with the trailhawk. If you're set on customising the options you want, it's a rare find to actually find one in stock locally!

They said they'll come back to me next week.

Hi Matty

I posted on your AJOR thread.

Looks like space has won out over the tech when all said and done. You won't be disappointed with the WK2 if that's the way you end up going though.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Hey SJet

You wouldn't believe how close I came to signing off on the TH last week, the dealership and I were literally $1K apart from putting down a deposit.

They couldn't get the tech pack anywhere in the colour I wanted so we went for the conv pack only as there's a Granite on a boat pretty close. I took $3k off for the tech pack and made that my final offer, but then the dealer went on 3 weeks leave and I had to pick it up again with another guy. So that's where I left it.

At least a weeks cool down has allowed the WK2 to creep back into the picture. Just have to play the waiting game now to see what Cricks come back with.

Yeah, I don't think the QL can be fitted after, there are lots of electroincs, and you would have to add the controls to the console, put the options in the uconnect system. A lot of stuffing around. I haven't heard of anyone doing it anyway.

You can fit the ORAII skid plates yourself or get the dealer to do it after delivery. The other thing the ORA adds is 18inch rims, the 20s are ok, but for real soft sand and rocks etc, you might be better off with 18s and LT rated All Terrain tyres. But you can do that down the track no problem.

The only other thing you miss out on is the locking rear diff (Qudradrive II), but no biggy, the standard system is quadratrack II which has a locking center diff, and electronic brake control of spinning wheels to redistribute torque. It seems to work well enough.

Good luck with the deal.

edit: definitely stick with the limited if you can afford it.

I think that the dealer going away may in fact have worked in your favour here. The KL without the Tech pack (and coupled with the space issue) would have disappointed you I think.

IMHO, the KL only stacks up against the Grand when both packs are added - Tech and Elect/Conv.

All the stuff that those two packs provide brings it to the level of the Grand (Limited and above) plus of course the added extras that goes above the Grand.

No, I think without the Tech pack on the KL, then the WK2 is the definite way to go.

Fingers crossed for you that you can get it a good price.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

After an extensive search of AU Grand LTD stocks, it would appear there's only one in the country with quadra lift in the petrol (True Blue paint).

It's got the Lux pack with the vented nappa seats, but the dealer also wants to hit us up for an additional $2,000 freight to get it from WA to QLD (not incl the $700 for the lux pack as well!).

I know they have a granite coloured LTD in stock at Albion, but QL seems a really nice addition for light beach work. Just takes out the worry factor when you're in the soft stuff and you don't have your belly in the sand.

Dealer suggests the stock LTD will be fine for Fraser / Moreton without QL (and why woudn't they) but so many posts on this forum mention the benefits of having the lift on demand (didn't realise until today that it also lowers in sports mode for improved handling in city driving).

I'm sure there's plenty of owners here who hit the beach without QL, but the second thing on every beach driving check list (after tyre pressure) is clearance....and I don't know about you guys but another 60mm can not be a bad thing
