(didn't realise until today that it also lowers in sports mode for improved handling in city driving).
Aero mode engages and lowers the vehicle when you hit and sustain speeds of greater than 90km/hr (for more than 20 seconds). I have found it engages at about the 85 mark and you do not need to be in Sport mode for it to do this.

This of course has nothing to do with City driving....(??)

I hardly ever put the Grand into Sport but I sure do engage Aero mode within 1 minute of leaving our driveway every single time.

Can you afford the extra 2K? If you can, then go with it.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Push the $2k down to a grand or so. Several years ago I paid a dealer $1100 to transport a Prado from Melbs to Perth. Prices would have risen, but it's definitely cheaper the other way!

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

I'm sure if these guys want a sale by EoM Feb so if they could meet me half way on the freight it just might seal the deal.

Only other option is an estimated July 15 delivery of a custom order job.

I'll have to ask him what the lux pack interior trim colour combo is on the GC they have in WA. It's a true blue so not sure which of the three trim options this would feature.

A bit more reading on the LUX pack tells me we loose the under seat storage on the front passenger (no big deal for us), but other places I read talk about a media centre / power lift gate etc. I thought power lift gate (again no biggie) is incl as stock on the LTD.

All up we're looking at around $62,700 (tow bar / QL / Lux pack) unless we can come to some discount on the freight.

Will keep you posted. But any more comments on the QL for light beach work most welcome!

Cheers,
Matt

Is that to save some $$? I'd say the dealer would fit here in Brisbane anyway.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

- Save a few bucks on LCT.
- Unless you need it straight away you can chase a good price when someone is hungry for work.
- Depending on what you're towing, you might need additional electrical stuff, which the dealer will be sure to balls up.

Also consider doing it yourself

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Hang on Matty - you are confusing the two vehicles I think.

Quote:
A bit more reading on the LUX pack tells me we loose the under seat storage on the front passenger (no big deal for us),
This only applies to the KL. If you do not get the Lux option on the KL, then you have the flip 'n stow storage in the front passenger seat. The vented system on the KL replaces this spare space.

The flip 'n stow option (as far as I am aware and I stand to be corrected) is not available at all on the WK2 regardless of whether you opt for the Lux option (vented seats) or not.

I don't have a LTD grand (I have an Overland) but as far as I am aware the 8" media screen and the power lift-gate are standard on the LTD.

Can a LTD owner clarify for Matty?

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Oh crap - yes I think you're right SJet. Some of my google hits no doubt drifted into the KL. Ignore that....I think the lux pack on the grand is just the nappa ventilated seats.

I stand corrected - thanks SJ

I know they have a granite coloured LTD in stock at Albion, but QL seems a really nice addition for light beach work. Just takes out the worry factor when you're in the soft stuff and you don't have your belly in the sand.

Dealer suggests the stock LTD will be fine for Fraser / Moreton without QL (and why woudn't they) but so many posts on this forum mention the benefits of having the lift on demand (didn't realise until today that it also lowers in sports mode for improved handling in city driving).

I'm sure there's plenty of owners here who hit the beach without QL, but the second thing on every beach driving check list (after tyre pressure) is clearance....and I don't know about you guys but another 60mm can not be a bad thing

Just get the steel spring lift, looks tough all the time then.

The option of having more downwards travel can't be discounted.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

I love my QL...
Having the ability to put it into Park mode to load stuff on the roof is brilliant, especially if you're going camping and taking big, cumbersome things and need to strap them onto a roof rack, basket etc.

I've just bought some roof mounted bike carriers and in park mode I can lift the bikes up without needing a ladder, with a lift, no way!!!
