Hey Hutch, yep I installed the Chief underbody sump plate. I haven't completed a full inspection yet to see if has seen any action whilest we were up at Cooloola.

Wondering how the carpet faired...you mean with the sand in the cabin? We bought all weather mats from Supercheap and threw them in the front to collect most of the sand.

(unless I've missed your meaning )

He's referring to the factory Jeep carpet sump "protection" thing.

Yeah, call both and see who gets there first.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Ahh ok, yeah the stock sump protection on my '15 GC was just a plastic belly pan that unbolted. I think I've seen pics of the 'carpet' you're referring to....is it like this (possibly an earlier 12-14 version of the stock sump guard):

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

Yeah, thats it, its plastic with a felt feel to it. A lot of the other lining around the wheel arches and other spots are also felt carpet like stuff. I guess they use it for sound deadening, but mud and sand tend to rip into it.

Re: Grand Ltd Vs. KL Trailhawk

That explains it. It looks like the 2015 comes with felt carpet stuff around the wheel arches but the sump plate is a pure plastic pan with no sound deadening properties. Maybe they thought it could take a few more hits than the previous design. Anyway the chief plate is rock solid. It ain't goin nowhere

When I spoke to Bill last week he told me they were flat out preparing for the Brisbane 4X4 Show.

I understand they had a prototype of the front airdam replacement on display at the show
