Cup holder led lamp and transmission illum did not work, but I checked it out and the illum wire were looping back to itself rather than to the led lamps itself. I had the compressor, evaporator and the active head rest replaced under warranty, with a brand new dodge journey as a loaner included. So far extremely happy with the service the guys at Maddington Jeep Service center handled my case and the patience they had to put up with. Most importantly what helped the most was also a printed out of this forums..

So far no rattles.. Not that I could tell on the long drive home anyway. It is a well built car and from what I've noticed with past Chrysler cars, everything fitter is precised and tightly fitted, even down to foam behind kickboards etc... So it is well built. Jeep is like that when I took apart the center console tonight to look at the cup holder lighting. However, your service dealer does not equate to the same guy who worked on my car. Good luck.
Hey imaz.

Just wondering if the fix to your A/C has held. Mine is booked in for the same thing in a couple of weeks after the dealer was supposed to do it at my 20K service but called to tell me to come and pick up the vehicle because they didn't have the parts. Annoying! Anyway, just wondering if it fixed your problem.

Cheers,

Clarkey.

Re: Harmonic noise coming from engine...

How are your cars going gents, have you had any more re-occurrences?

It is damn cold over in the west these few weeks and believe it or not, I think I heard the groan once again(once). It is more further in the bay now rather that what use to feel like in the dash. I'm over it and most likely wont do anything about it. Since I had the works done about 3-4000 km's ago and it hasn't been hot enough to realize, I hope when summer comes around it doesn't moan and groan as bad as it use to..

Fingers crossed it won't happen as often.

Well it's now day 3 after I dropped my Grand off at the dealer to have the AC evaporator an TX valve replaced under warranty. WTF?! I have a loan vehicle (an Alfa Romeo Mito) that they seemed to begrudgingly give me whilst 'waiving' the $40 fee. Why is it so hard to find a dealer who reliable?

Clarkey, I thought you have already had those parts changed already? If they rip out the entire dash then it's a couple days job and you want them to take as much time as anything can go wrong. It's heart breaking to see the dash out. Just enjoy your free loan car. I had a brand new journey with almost no milage for 5 days.

....evaporator means your dash is out which you are probably aware of.....but no compressor change?

Hey imaz.

They were supposed to replace the unit at my 20K service. However, after telling me the parts were in stock when I dropped it off, I got a call at the end of the day telling me that they didn't have them and it would be a month before they got some from the US.

I agree that you want them to do it right when they have to take the dash out but unfortunately they haven't. As we were driving away my mrs heard a rattle when the vehicle was at idle. We got the service guy to take a listen and his reply was that 'maybe things just needed to settle into place'. For $60K things should be in place!

I told him that wasn't acceptable so he got the 2IC of the workshop to come out and it was then that we discovered that the bottom of the heat shield at the back of the engine bay wasn't attached and causing the rattle.

Now the mrs and I are in a coffee shop waiting for them to fix it. I even stopped at the new car dealership and looked at an MY14 because I think I'll be getting rid of my 12 after I've had it the minimum 2 years required on the lease.

Sounds like a dodgy service center. You sure nothing else is missing in the dash or broken clips? - youll never know. . Did they manage to change the compressor this time?

So they say. I guess I just have to trust them and only time will tell if I hear that trumpet coming from under the bonnet again. Just got home and so far so good.

If you did what I did, scraped marks on the compressor and took a photo of the serial number on top. But then again I think I'm the only one who does stuff like that before sending in for service.

I probably would have had I known what the part looked like I guess.

In relation to the MY14, all models now have paddle shift on the back of the steering wheel, the 8 speed auto which brings fuel economy for the diesel to 7.9L/100km and the diesel's power is up from 177kw to 185kw. All for $1K more than I paid for the MY12 CRD. Oh and the CD player is now in the centre console and media (USB, SD card slot, AUX port and 12v outlet) is in the compartment where the console meets the bottom of the dash. The instruments/gauges are also new still with mechanical tacho, fuel & temp on the sides but I didn't get to see the electronic speedo/heads up display in the centre.

It is all very nice, accessories really apart from the tranny. Worth the change? Probably not. Don't think my next car will be a Jeep.
