Re: How often do you clean your ride

1 good wash every weekend (rinse, foam, rinse, clean wheels & tires first with their dedicated cleaners & brushes, normal 2 bucket wash the whole car with 2 mitts, final rinse & sheeting, dry with leaf blower, wipe all glass with glass towel & cleaner, final wipe dry the car with MF towel & quick detailer, wax the wheels, dress the tires and finally quick wipe down the interior) total 3 hours!! and it gets dirty after 2 or maximum 3 days
got a waterless wash kit to use in between the weekend washes..

I wash ours every 6 months even if it needs it or not,
Or until the wife pays someone to do it while she shops.

lots & lots of things to do in the UAE but I enjoy taking care of my new Jeep and don't mind spending a couple of hours every week to do that and keep it clean & shiny

Re: How often do you clean your ride

I have always had Black vehicles, and used a LOT of different products to clean and detail them, some cheap/some very expensive and have found the best, especially for use on Black paint, is a product called Liquid Glass.

Both my WK and my motorcycle are a Black Crystal Pearl and come out great using LG to prep and polish after a good washing. The LG seems to help repel light dust and makes heavier dirt wash off much easier. LG also has a UV component in the formula that really seems to make a different in keep dark colors bright and it works really well in keeping fine scratches invisible. It seems to be the next best thing to having to clay bar the paint.

I use the LG prep first then a good coat of LG polish (all by hand, I never liked using a power buffer due to potential of swirl marks in the dark paint) and the paint really shines!

Get the wife to clean it.
I dedust a DCR within a day of dusty roads, also flush salt/ice/sand within a day mainly to avoid corrosion and/or scratches if it is left along the body and someone bumps against it.
Other than that, it is garaged and gets a full wash at least weekly--but then its 19 year old predecessor got the same treatment and it looked immaculate after those 19 years which is why I do it.

Re: How often do you clean your ride

Well My DCR lives outside so it gets washed usually once a week in the winter months because it gets dark fast, In the summer months it gets washed twice a week.

The longest the truck will go without a washing is three weeks in some cases.

Then there is the Brilliant silver one which is the family hauler so the inside of that one gets trashed. I can't beleive how dirty the inside gets. For this one the average washing is once a week and a mega interiour detailing every other month. The longest this one will go without getting washed is also three weeks.

The average time spent on wash and vacuum is 1.5 hours and most of that time is spent trying to get all the crap the sticks to those felt fender liners.

Consider that the detailing spray may just attract dirt.
Washing attracts rain/snow.

Surprised that after having lived in Colorado for over 6 years, I have yet to be "goose bombed" from an overflying flock heading back from breakfast to their social grounds. The mourning doves in California were expert bombardiers, and well, geese are a tad larger.

Re: How often do you clean your ride

Speaking of cleaning, what are others using to clean the leather seats (MY11-MY13)?
I had some maquires, but the cream lodges into the perforations. Not ideal.
