Re: How often do you clean your ride

I didn't get any dealer paint protection, but did want to put something on her to protect it. More from bat and bird crap we get. My paint supplier from work recommended this wax. App for new car is to wash with ordinary washing detergent to remove any wax already on the paint and to apply this wax in full sun. THAT WAS FUN - NOT. Paint looked and felt super silky, but only after a few weeks the paint felt as if the wax was all but gone. Had gone back to that squeaky clean feeling when you wash and chamois, which I through it must have next to no wax left. This wax cost me around $250.00. So now I will be just applying polish every month or so.

Factoid One: The bodywork is there to keep the sticks off your face.

Factoid Two: The paintwork is there to prevent the bodywork rusting away.

Treat them appropriately

Cheers,
Steve

I have e-rust to hopefully help guard against rust, how well that works is anyone's guess. The wax and polish is just to make me feel good.

According to my mechanic friend in Canada were they oil the cars to fight the road salt in winter, the electronic things just don't work.

He said if you want to guarantee your car will rust, use one of those and don't oil it.

I thought as much, with global warming don't think I will have to worry about salt on the roads for ice. LOL Up the beach yes.

I did research it a fair bit before I bought the GC, most posts on the net said it was a good thing. Couldn't help myself, had to have it, even though I thought it was BS. Cheers

We who live in warmer climes are eternally grateful to you poor bastards who live in snow country. Your salty roads have forced global manufacturers to substantially improve rust protection.

Re: How often do you clean your ride

Finally ordered a bunch of stuff to properly clean and care for the car.
Originally I was going to get Zainos, but their process was not done so simply.
I was going to get a full line up of Adams, whose US arm is a supporter of this site.
They do great simple YouTube videos to explain all of the processes and don't have 50 million variants of all items. It is very easy to see what steps are required for what results.
I ended up getting two separate kits from the Chemical Guys, mainly because the buckets, applicators and cloths were going to costs me nearly that much. As I go through it, I will replace the consumables with Adams.

The 3 things that were must gets from Adams, i just ordered, Shampoo, Detailing Spray and the Premium Wax.
They have a 10% deal for today in celebrations of Mothers day.
If anyone is thinking of getting stuff, the coupon code is "MUM10".

It should al turn up this week, so I guess i will spend a lot of next Sat getting a bit crazy with the car for the first time.

Re: How often do you clean your ride

Never tried Adams, but I know Chemical Guys have great shampoos I personally tried honeydew and citrus wash & gloss, their V07 detail spray is great as well..
For MF towels, I got some nice quality ones from Autogeek and I heard similar towels for lower prices are available on Microfiber Tech and The Rag Company but if you want the top quality towels & mitts, checkout the German brand Microfiber Madness! I have their crazy pile & wave rider towels and the Incredimitt, softness and quality like nothing else..
I went ahead and coated everything on my JGC (Opti-Coat 2.0 on paint & rims, Opti-Glass coat on all glass including the roof, Tuf Shine coat on tires and still have to coat the plastic grill and running boards with Cquartz Dlux) and very I'm really happy with it, great look & protection and most importantly it's now darn easy to wash & clean.. Cut down 1/3 to 1/2 the time & effort of the weekly wash..
Still have some spray sealants & spray waxes to top the coating whenever I want just for fun and some extra protection & shine..

I will post more when less happy from mothers day (I aint not biatch) (been forced to play up and down the river, which requires lubrication)

1, start with clean body - if it is crappy, do a nice clay bar
2 lots of experience with nano waxes BUT you might LOL, as nu finish is cheap, lasts long as is very efficient at what it does, provided 1st coat day 0, and next coat in about a month, will last 12
IF in OZ use CT18 before waxing, CT 20 thereafter
3 if you really need to cut, use Menzerna fast polish 2000

Re: How often do you clean your ride

I have had a bottle of Nu Finish for years and never touched it until last week, and decided that it is not touching my Jeep. I may try it on my company car though.

After spending far too long watching a million YouTube videos (Zainos numbering confused me) and getting lots of comparison reviews, I decided on two must haves. Adams Detailing Spray and their premium wax.
I see the CT20 wash is PH neutral, so that is very good, as you say important after waxing. The Chem Guys kits I have purchased will result in me having two bottles of their citrus wash. This is not PH neutral, so I also got Adams shampoo which is and fine to be done in the sun.

I will wash with the citrus wash, clay bar it, sealant then wax. the shampoo for future washes. I have never done more than wash and dry in the past, so interested to see what a difference all this makes.
