Re: How often do you clean your ride

I can understand the use of exotic waxes if presenting at a Concours d'Elegance or to preserve the duco on a vintage car but is it really necessary on a modern cars?

Re: How often do you clean your ride

Well I had a good experience with paint protection on our mazda a while ago, it was easy to clean, and water just beaded off. It just reduces the effort required to keep it looking like new.

I'm also hoping it gives some additional protection against pinstriping, but we'll see.

It will be a debate that will rage forever....
I find that quality products will outlast and perform better.
If you do what Snuke did every 6 months, it will protect the paint and also make washing much easier. I personally find the mid range stuff like NXT Techwax a good product, that is also affordable.
It may not give the same luster as the top shelf stuff, it is pointless unless I was going in a show 'n shine .

Some are much easier to apply and buff off than others. The Adams I used is highly rated for that, as is the NXT you're using.

There was a comparison video I watched for four Meguir's waxes and I think NXT was the easiest of the ones they tried.
Some are insanely priced though. Better come with special favours for the prices asked.

Wtf!! What a ripoff!! And btw there's no need for multiple layers of Opti-Coat! Guys it's not that hard to apply, I have no experience in detailing and I Opti-Coated my JGC myself!

Hi Fellas,

Forgot I posted in this (PUI)

The name of the stuff is Solvex diamond hard sealant.

Very happy with it.

They seem to be at most caravan/camping shows.

Re: How often do you clean your ride

I washed with Adams Shampoo last week before it went in for service. Amazing how much better this was that the Chemical Guys Citrus wash, or the crappy Armorall I used to use.
It suds up massively, and holds the thick suds in the bucket for the entire wash, barely evaporating. Same for when on the car, holds a great thick lather until you're ready to wash it off. This is what you want to keep the water spots away.
It was the first wash after doing the big clean, sealant wax job. Amazing how much easier it is too wash with the wax coating etc..

I had used the Chem Guys Jet sealant on the rear windows. I already have Rain-X on Windscreen, Front and Boot glass. I wanted to se how good a paint sealant would act on glass for hydrophobic abilities. It wasn't too bad, clearly not as good as Rain-X, but it was pretty good.

Adams has a 10% of deal until July 31st using the following code - EOFY10.
Adam's Premium Car Care Products Australia - Sydney
