Just when I had just about given up, they pull a pleasant surprise out of the bag for a change

Now it is booked in for Tuesday morning so Touch Wood, Fingers Crossed, Break a Leg.......... I may just have a working vehicle by next weekend
WOW! Great stuff. Good luck Mark

re: I bought a Jeep - started a Mistake.....but now???

Mmm it is now Thursday and the "Faulty" pump has been swapped with one off the supplied donor vehicle. Surprise surprise, apparently the problem still exists

Back to scratching their heads and waiting on a response from Jeep Technical department.

9 weeks and I am really over it, surely it can not be this hard to diagnose and fix a problem on these vehicles? Every time I see a light at the end of the tunnel and I think that I will finally receive what I paid for - some other issue is discovered

Think I will start looking at trade in prices

Yeah, it sucks. Wanderer had a similar problem with his GC after 3 month (I think it was) they gave up and delivered him a new one that worked. Hopefully they will do the same for you, after 2 months!

Good luck!

Mark - Shouldn't you be entitled to a replacement vehicle by now under the Aust. Consumer Law?

re: I bought a Jeep - started a Mistake.....but now???

I think the problem lies with it being a Cashmere Summit and the Summits appear to be in short supply here?

Think if it was an Overland/Limited/Laredo they may have had something in Perth to replace it with!

I am just torn between -
This is an unfortunate thing and it will be years of trouble free driving once it is finally sorted.
And
This is a sign of things to come and the Vehicle is going to continue to spend more time in the workshop than on the road!

And the careless attitude from Jeep Australia does not give ANY confidence at all.

Well I guess if it were me I'd prefer a new one. Quite often one issue is fixed and another pops up, but hard to say.

The issue seems to be that they can't fix it, so unless that changes, you'd be wanting a new one.

I lodged a complaint with Department of Commerce (Consumer Protection in WA) and they allegedly contacted both John Hughes and DVG Maddington and neither were willing to do anything more than wait for parts!
So I was informed by the Department there was nothing further that they could do. If I wanted to take further action I would need to contact a solicitor and take it to Court and they closed the complaint!

As I said any which way I look at it - it cost me money

If I keep it and pray that they will eventually fix it, I am paying all the expenses on a vehicle that I can not use

If I take it to court, it will cost me a small fortune and just get dragged out for months/years

If I trade it and get something else I will loose a bucket load cause no-one will give me what I actually paid for Summit!

re: I bought a Jeep - started a Mistake.....but now???

The response from John Hughes (Dealer Principle of where the vehicle was purchased) when I sent him a "Notice to reject goods" as instructed by the Department of Commerce

Mark

I have only now realised that you sent an attachment.

I also sent the latter to Your argument is not with me but with Chrysler Jeep. As the dealer and not the Manufacturer I am not prepared to consider a replacement, refund or compensation.

John Hughes

The letter/email was also sent to Glenn Jones and Tracey Ferguson (Jeep Aust) but they did not even have the decency to even reply!

So what do you do when the Government Department that is meant to protect the right of both consumers and seller has no willingness or powers to actually do anything to "Protect" and the companies know it
Both John Hughes and Jeep have their money and will no doubt eventually fix the vehicle but they dont care in the slightest about the time, inconvenience or costs to the customer while the process happens

Yeah, Wanderer got to the point of sending a letter of demand with the threat of court action. After this the dealer and Jeep Australia got him a new car. Might be worth contacting him about it if you are considering this route.

He posts on the AJOR forum:

That's ridiculous Mark, you poor bugger.
