Re: intermittent steering 'clunk'

Thanks for that info. I did raise that point with the service guy, and he said there is a different steering rack for the QL vehicles. I'm yet to check out whether this is just BS..

Cheers, Simon

Re: intermittent steering 'clunk'

Checked Mopar.com and found different steering racks listed but they all look pretty much the same and the rack for a 2014 Laredo is the same as that for an Overland. FFS..

Re: intermittent steering 'clunk'

[QUOTE=sironic;1239779]Lately my Jeep has started to make an intermittent 'clunk' noise at low speed when the steering is wound towards lock in either direction. The noise appears on either end of the steering travel, usually happening when reversing over a kerb or other uneven surface.

Just wondering if anyone here might have an idea of the cause. Think I will have to book it in at the dealer, but am a bit worried about them slapping me with a huge bill for the privilege of just looking at it. If the cause turns out to be the OME lift I had installed, then I guess replacing parts under warranty goes out the window..[/QUO

I had that same noise it ended up been my track bar bolt was a bit loose, I couldn't tell by looking at it I took the bolt.off and noticed it was egged out a little I drilled it out a bit bigger put a bigger bolt in then noise went away.. hope this helps

Thanks, when you say track bar, I'm thrown off as I thought they were only on solid axle vehicles. Do you mean the sway bar?

Looking under the car now I reckon they haven't even looked for it, probably just read the truncated description that the counter staff took down and assumed a little. Makes sense that I wasn't charged if that's the case.
