Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I do an average of 25kph most tanks so it's always doing a DPF burn in traffic or stopped at the lights, there's no messages or indication, if I stop in the middle of it in a garage I can detect a very faint smell similar to brake pad burn smell.

I have read there are fixes where you can see the % full of the DPF. Is this a Jeep fix or someone alot smarter than Jeep? (not hard)

I am booked in for the Tribunal tomorrow, would love a response tonight

Thanks
The main thing you need to know is that there was a fix that came out in December 2014. You should get your dealer to apply that. I haven't had this problem since it was applied.

You should print out the attached TSB and give it to the dealer. Some of them are a bit slow.

For some reason that file didn't attach. These are the details:

Yep, but if that fix has been applied and the issue still occurs, there may be a physical blockage in the filter, or a bad sensor. If they have applied the update and this has happened multiple times since, they should be replacing the dpf.

Anyway, over the past 18 months the Jeep has been trouble free and everything works as it should. One thing that is always in the back of my mind is the DPF. Although it has been 18 months and 20k kms since the unit was replaced, I have not once seen the DPF regeneration message, nor have observed any obvious burn-off such as change in engine note, increase in instaneous fuel consumption etc. Should I be worried?

Mine is almost 15 months 28000k I have never see the regen message and if it does a long trip regularly u might not.

Well I am disappointed in myself too much slow poking around, first regen in 32k, kicked in and done what it should. Looks like it must be time for a road trip though...

It will have done regens before, this will be the first one where filter levels got to 80% and told you to keep driving so it could perform one. I've had dpf levels sitting around 60%, but then jump up to 80% after giving it a bit of stick.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I've had mine a year now, 18000k's on it.

With all the city driving with exhaust temps in the 200's, it does one maybe once or twice a tank.

Usually i can tell when it's running even without the OBD scanner running, as the induction noise and throttle response is slightly different.
I try and let it run to the end but sometimes it's just started as i'm getting home. (there's a light whiff of burnt rubber smell if it's aborted on the driveway).

This happened last week and the next morning I got the "Exhaust system Regeneration in Progress, Continue Driving" message for the first time. 84% full.
Had to do a detour for 10minutes in the opposite direction to work to make sure it finished properly.

I'm happy as long at it keeps working properly.
It largely prevents the black s@!t coming out the back and the smell so a worthwhile trade-off IMO.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Have seen 3 "Exhaust system Regeneration in Progress, Continue Driving" messages in the last 1000km. They seem to be getting more frequent!!

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

12 months old now (21,000km) and I have smelt the tell tail burning rubber smell but last week was the first time I saw the "keep driving" message.

It has been very hot here and I have been running the car at school pick ups rather than turning it off so I figure this is the cause of the DPF filling up. I obviously usually do enough driving not to worry the DPF.

Well I dropped No.2 at soccer training and said, "I'm going for a drive". Always happy to take the GC for a drive😎👍.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Jeep have a new update for this issue, and a few others:

DATE: April 15, 2016

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The customers may experience one or all of the following:
• **Buzzing type noise in the fuel rail area of the engine.**
• Detonation type of noise while accelerating or at idle.
• Cruise Control lock out (inoperative) after several “+” cruise button inputs attempting
to increase Cruise Set Speed. Turning the ignition off and back on will clear the
condition.
• P2463-00 - Diesel Particulate Filter- Soot Accumulation..
The software enhancements also include:
• **Improvements to protect engine from fuels out of the EN590 specifications or fuels
with a high biodiesel content.**
• Improvements to the A/C compressor relay duty cycle operation to prevent ignition
off battery draw
