I've also tried registering on the Jeep US owner's site, but even after dodging up a US address I wasn't able to gain access. It'd have probably spat out the export VIN anyway.

The other approach is if anyone has received the 18-018-14 TSB update on a build near mine, built 4/2013?

Cheers,
Steve
As mentioned, I tried to get this done yesterday and my dealer has no record of this number in Australia. He confirmed that this update is not available in Australia.
Off to the toyota dealer

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Now on a lighter not, and this would be funny if it wasn't true.
The mechanic who worked on my JGC yesterday handed me the keys and said the cars right to go.

He then said, that he didn't have time to add the radio update and I would be without a radio until next week.

I said it worked fine when I brought it in here.

He said, I'm sorry it doesn't work now

I said what about the iPod functions, etc

He said nothing is working, there is no sound.

I got into the car, pulled out of the driveway, turned the volume up, because that's the only way to turn the bloody radio off, and I happily listened to music on the way home..........

Remember these are the guys that stuff computer stuff into our cars

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Another dissatisfied 14 diesel Grand Cherokee owner, build 6/13 around 8000km's. This vehicle has been back to dealership twice now for DPF problems. This one enters limp home mode with no warning. Had a Pajero for 7 years with DPF with out so much as a hiccup and it spent most of its life driving around the city. The Jeep is back to the dealership on Monday with yet another DPF failure. Would be nice to know if a fix is on the way, the missus has had enough!

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

It is thought this TSB released this week may be a fix:

http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1801814.pdf

Take it with you and ask. I'd also lodge a complaint with Jeep Australia and get an official response about the cause and whether this TSB applies.

I did take with me and they assured me after a number of phone calls that it doesn't refer to Australia.

not happy Jan.

Just re-reading the TSB more closely and saw the second round of criteria listed after "Note:"

I'm assuming that the "50 States Emissions" isn't for our market, nor are there likely many mid-February 2014 vehicles on the ground here.

Next solution please...

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Everyone should be ringing Jeep Australia and lodging complaints....

I still haven't heard back from the poster on AusJeepOffRoad who said his brother and another mate had the problem and lodged complaints with JA. They were told they needed to replace the DPF. I was hoping for some more info on that, I might PM him.

Just doing some reading, and started wondering if it was possible that Jeep filled some of the cars with incorrect oil at the factory? This could lead to premature DPF blockage. Doesn't account for the regen not working properly, but could contribute to it, especially if the engine is using a bit of oil.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I questioned the service manage about how I doubted his statement on pre delivery causing the problem.
He said that the cars sit for long periods of time just idling. It is a known fact that idling the CRD's for long periods does clog the filter, so there is some plausibility to his statement.

Looking over what I have seen, it could be several causes and or combinations.
No regen done at pre delivery
Car runs a low revs with the 8 sp on the highway
incorrect oil
incorrect fuel
some DFPs faulty

This seems to cover most of the potential causes. Just thought I would put it out there.

The DPF and its regeneration system should be able to deal with all the scenarios listed. Even bad oil should simply result in an excess of sulphated ash when the burn occurs... no burn can clear this anyway, it just slowly fills the core.

Doesn't it have to be the DPF itself and/or a sensor/coding problem which causes the regeneration to fail upon commencement? Everyone affected is seeing it start... then immediately all goes to shit. This is quite pivotal in my opinion.

Maybe we'll work it out before Jeep?

Cheers,
Steve

Yep it should. My line of though with the incorrect oil is that possibly it's filling so quickly that the regeneration system can't keep up. Just a thought. ...
