Lots of heavy right foot will provide some 'passive' regen and may reduce the need for active regen as often. But the problem here seems to be the active regen is not working. You shouldn't have to drive it like you stole it to rely on passive regen, active regen should work. It works for some, but not for others. If the filter is full and you are driving on the highway, it should active regen.

I'd be surprised if your car has never done an active regen. You could ask at the next service if they can check, it should be recorded in the system.

I have always been pleasantly surprised at how clean these new diesels are. I mean when was the last time that part of the car washing regime is to also wipe out the inside of the chrome exhaust tips, no soot, nothing. Compare that to diesel Ford Territories who blow clouds of black smoke, or to my friends Mercedes C class that smells like diesel when he starts it and when idling. The New Jeep CRDs just have sweet smell when idling. Hopefully you guys get those MY14 DPFs sorted soon so that you can enjoy the vehicles without worry.

I'd pay a pretty penny for DPF delete.

Yes, I'd love to NOT have one too.
If the damn thing works, without hassles, without affecting reliability, fuel consumption etc., then fine.
But if it's going to put us at risk of being stranded, maybe even regularly, then the sooner we can ditch it with a dpf delete pipe, the better. I'm not spending a lot of money on a new JGC to have an unrelaible vehicle.

My 1990 diesel Nissan Patrol right from new has never, ever let me down, or needed a trip to a garage or dealer unexpectedly. My wife's six new cars in the last 30 odd years have been just about as good too. Reliability is everything!
I'm very uncomfortable about these dpf issues, and don't even have my new GC yet, (still some weeks away)!

Modern cars rely on electronics, they are inherently unreliable. Here is my cruiser on one of my camping trips at DIP, 6 hours on the side of the Bruce highway. Glad it didn't break down on the sand:

It happens, get good road side assistance.....

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Hi,
an update on my DPF issue, vehicle driven to service centre in limp home mode on Monday, second occurrence. Informed Wednesday a replacement DPF ordered, Chrysler unsure if one is available in country, if so 5 days from Melbourne to Cairns, if not 5 weeks ex US. Sad saga as two other Jeeps sitting in the yard with similar problems. Will keep you posted.
Cheers,

Nicko

If they run hard and fast, they should recover.... or be towed back to the nearest service centre. Aren't they sponsored by Jeep?

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Re-post for you Aus guys that have been through this:

The message "regenerating" should never come on if you aren't doing highway speed and highway speed is needed. Once "regenerating" is displayed, it doesn't mention anything about highway speed after that.

So now it's three days at dealer. Yes, three days at the dealer to do a simple filter regen. They say it's taking so long because they have to contact Chrysler and work through other codes that were thrown because of the full filter. Anyone and everyone knows on a modern vehicle that one issue will usually trip many codes, doesn't mean you need to go down a rabbits hole of wasted time.

I told them to reset the ECU and PCM, do the regen burn and everything would be good to go but they wouldn't do it. And this particular dealership service isn't open on the weekend. So this "event" could be a 5-6 day trial costing me over a grand as I was suppose to leave back for home three states away today.

Anyone want to buy a Jeep cheap or I will drive it into the nearest lake...

How long did it take your dealer to do the regen? Did they say anything about any other codes? Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill this is crazy.
