We do drive up the coast every month, and we have traveled to canberra and sydney from brisbane. .... and all without dpf issues. (We will probably have one this weekend now). I would have thought that we would be right at the top of the list of having issues because of all the slow short trips. However it seems to be the opposite.
The advertising pamphlet mentions that its not covered by the warranty, they would, they're trying to sell you their product.
DPF's aren't as big an issue as they are made out to be. It's just that those that experience an issue come to a place like this to seek advice and or consultation on what is normal. I'd like to know the ratio of problem DPF to No problem.
The more I investigate the more I agree with Benn0 and allypally about the DPF issue being a computer / sensor(s) problem. I don't think that a fuel additive would fix a DPF issue in this particular circumstance.

Good point iboughtajeep about the ratio of probs to no probs. Jeep sells around 1,300 JGCs a month in Australia and I would imagine that a lot of those would be CRDs.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Spoke to the local Jeep dealer today. Not the place i bought my Jeep from.

I asked him about the DPF issues (which i haven't had )and he addmited they had some with the problem and one back twice but he informed me they had a fix now and it is a new flash and it was all computer related.
You could work out the dealership by the town i live in a give them a ring if you won't more information. It sounds like you only get the flash if your having a problem.

I think barboots called it first.

The issue does seem to have gone quiet since the update was released. I'm feeling better about it now. I do low kms, mainly short 5-10min trips during the week, then a highway run once a month or so. I'm hoping that will be enough to keep it clear.

Very promising Elvin. Thanks for that. And thankyou to barboots too.

Yes Benn0 it has gone quiet here so I'm wondering if those from the list that you correlated (above) have had their DPF issues sorted with the "flash" and are happy Jeep CRD owners now Either that or they've sold their Jeeps and have moved on.

I'm hopeful that after 19 pages of this thread that I may have an answer to my question. I feel more confident about considering a JGC CRD now as opposed to February this year. Sincere thanks for all the informative and helpful discussions. Cheers.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I've just finished reading the 2014 GC "EcoDiesel OWNERS!!! Review thread here, .....and WOW!

There are pages and pages of nothing but good to great comments about the 3.0l Diesel by CRD owners.

I do feel bad to those that have experienced the DPF issue, and I do hope they get it fixed very soon, however there appears to be a vast majority of CRD owners that have had no DPF issues at all

The US owners don't appear to be having this issue, but their electronics are a bit different, and they use DEF, not sure if that has any impact....

The DPF problems seem to apply to the MY14, those with the older models seem to be ok. Hopefully the flash update has done the trick....

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

All,

Have just finished reading an article in the April/May issue of " Caravan & RV" re there Overland Diesel tow vehicle suffering the DPF full limp home scenario.

The articles author also makes mention of Fiat Chrysler Australia's (FCA) vague response to his (I guess) request for comment.

If there is a 'Flash' that solves this DPF no warning issue, don't you think FCA would have mentioned it in their response to the authors enquiry?

Do FCA even know what the state of play is with their public relations profile resulting from their failure to respond appropriately to there paying customers concerns?

It smacks of an attitude something like "We have your money, stop bothering us. We are too busy selling more faulty (and in this case dangerous) JGC's"

Great publicity... take another few grand off resale.

What we have here is an inept organisation of imbeciles. I feel shame for paying a portion of their salaries.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Just to provide a positive view for those contemplating a purchase (I don't disagree with some of the points made and was one of the first to suffer the DPF Issue and require a forced regeneration)....

Just returned from almost 3400km outback Western Queensland trip towing my dual axle 2.7tonne Jayco Starcraft.
2200km of that towing.
Average overall 13.5l/100km.

Car issues - none!

Went very well. No problems. Tight as a drum except for a creak I have put down to the rear 'spoiler' over the window.

Touch wood, the car was excellent and after many hours of removing the dust, looks like new again.

Cheers
Andrew
