Don't get too excited about an ODBII dongle - I have 2, and no DPF info - the supplier tells me that jeep have only implemented a very small subset of the ODB pids - just enough to pass the legal requirements, and no use to us.!!!

I think you need a new supplier. All the info required is accessible.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

rang the 1300 133 079 number.
not very helpful. explained about the dpf filter issue and not being able to get to the highway to do the burn because limp mode kicks in straight after the 1st message.
they said that there is an update for the problem and the dealer should do the update. asked what the update is but they wouldn't tell me any procedure number or code to tell the dealer.
rung the service dealer back and they have no idea what the customer care person was rattling on about the update . apparently the dealer has to bring up some technical case to jeep to be advised what the update is ?? so i ended up telling the service dept to go ring the 1300 number and find out what they have to do

maybe if enough of us with failures bring up more technical cases with the dealer to bring to jeep something might be done ??

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I believe it is this TSB:
http://www.wk2jeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk2_1801814c.pdf

But there should be an error code logged by the limp mode to give the service tech a clue as what was the cause. They have said there wasn't one, more likely they didn't bother to check. If they did, they could then see it matches one of the codes listed in the TSB and work out that the update applies to your situation. That they can't work this out makes me think I would stay well clear of them doing any work on my car.

Interesting. These are the ODBII standard PIDs for DPF data and are all handled by my readers. When the meter communicates with the jeep at startup it gets a list of all the PIDs supported. In my case - none of these.

My Trailhawk is an MY13 model. Perhaps the MY14 software supplies more data than this. I have seen a Witech screen displaying this info, so it is in there somewhere, but $5k is a bit much to spend to get at it.

DPF_REG_AVGT Average Time Between DPF Regen

DPF_REGEN_PCT Normalized Trigger for DPF Regen

I think Barboots just wanted to read the error codes....

Your comment about the pins is correct but that would be the case for most modern cars. Nowadays its all done on the can bus. That only takes 2 pins.

Sorry, my jargon is a bit confusing - PID stands for Parameter IDentifier - they are defined in the ODBII standard. There is a minimum requirement which all vehicles must meet, but most manufacturers implement less than half of the 300 or so in the standard.

The jeep implementation of the can bus protocol seems to be proprietary. As far as I know, only the Witech hardware/software (and possibly the older Starmobile) combination is able to access data this way.

So afaik, the only way to access any meaningful DPF info is go see your friendly dealer or come up with a 2nd mortgage to buy your own Witech system, and even then it looks like you wont be able to register your device unless you can prove you are an "accredited" jeep dealer.

There are Witech clones available from China, but I suspect they would be illegal here and I would be worried about potential damage to my ECU.

If any one has come across an affordable device which can display Useful DPF info I would be very grateful to hear about it.

My bad. I read pins instead of pids.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Just going to add a me to to this list.

I'm just short of 4700kms and message appeared to drive on highway and then straight into limp mode and stuck in 4th gear. A couple of weeks ago I drove for 3 hours at 80-110km/h and not done much driving since then so it's not due to lack of highway speeds. I'm also with Cricks Mt Gravatt so it looks like I will have to break down again to get anything other than them forcing a regen. I've already spoke to the girl in the service centre who tells me I have to drive over 109km/h to ensure this doesn't happen again! Not impressed.

I've also got a 2.0 Mondeo diesel with DPF which has never had an issue with my driving style in the three years I've had it.

Both cars have only ever been run on BP ultimate diesel as well.
