Maybe the oil leak they can't fix assists? Haha.... I say oil leak, which it is, but realistically its 1 drop in the garage every other day. Sometimes we can go a week between drops.

if it happens again that's 3 strikes by my books. the jeep is getting traded.
If if was Cricks Mt Gravatt, that was mine on the tow truck. Today they tell me they have ran it through a burn process to burn off the excess soot left from the manufacturing process and they do this to all new CRDs now. No update mentioned. They tell me they never come back after this burn process.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

small world. yeah i was at cricks.
same bs they are feeding you. mine was in limp mode at 1900km and they said because it wasn't cleaned out before preinspection with the car sitting around. well that's news considering mine's a 11/2013 build and I picked up the car end of 1/14. not really sitting around that long. 2nd week of ownership in Feb has limp mode

limp mode again at 19000km 9/14. will see if it regens properly next time. service dept is getting a blasting since service manager says it won't happen again😏.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I joined the club last Saturday.
Same as most of the other long suffering Jeep owners. Returning from a 40 minute run on the freeway, got the filter almost full message then the red throttle system message. Drove with higher revs for the remaining 30 minutes home. The minute I pulled off the motorway - limp mode - 3rd gear. Towed to the dealer on Monday morning. They cleared the codes and did a forced regen - started the car again and messages and codes came back. Would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at the dealership when that happened. So they told me they were going to raise a tech report with Jeep Australia. No ETA on a fix. We're into day 3.
Had lunch with a mate who sold his SRT after 12 months of frustration. He seemed to take great pleasure in telling me that his was kept for 3 months while they attempted to remedy one of his woes.
Thank f*&k I've gone off the idea of buying a caravan. I can just imagine sitting in some town in the middle of nowhere waiting for Jeep to get back to a local dealer.

sounds like they will need to replace the dpf.

At least you'd be able to make yourself a nice strong coffee in preparation for the bullshit festival forthcoming.

Built date is?

All the best with it...

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

I think the build date is October 2013. I've had it since the end of January this year. The really frustrating thing is the lack of knowledge the dealer service guys have. I can't believe they're that hopeless, it must be a problem with lack of training from JA.

Yes, the amount of misinformation on this issue is staggering. I would have thought that with the number of failed regens that JA would have notified dealers of the TSB and provided some more detailed info so they understood the problem(s). But it seems many of them are totally in the dark.... maybe they could go and ask some questions and find out, but seems many service departments don't give a sh!t....

Interestingly I had the same issue in my January 2013 JGC. However I was told by the service manager, whom I might add has been fantastic, that the temp sensor in the DPF had failed and that the filter was at well over 100% full.
I am now wondering if it is this sensor failing which is bringing about the DPF issues that many are suffering.
Mine was replaced yesterday and all is well now.

Pete

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Yep, my take on it is there are 2 issues, one that a batch of DPFs have bad sensors and aren't regenerating, and the second that the software wasn't allowing regen to occur in some situations. The software change should fix the 2nd issue, but if you have a bad sensor, then the only option is to replace the dpf.....

None of this is authoritative, its just guesses based on anecdotal reports, and filtering through the BS fed by the dealers....

edit: It's great that you have found a service dept that can actually diagnose a bad dpf.... that's the biggest problem.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

Just got mine back. The fix was a "flash", then a code clear then another regen. Service manager says should be fine from now on. I'm not too confident though as among other things I also asked them to look at my auto headlights, which are coming on way too early (sometimes in the middle of a sunny day). They asked me how did I know the lights were coming on? I said because my whole dash goes so dim I can't see anything. Their fix was...... Dash lights brightness adjusted. Even the service manager laughed at that one. I told him it can wait until next time. 😁

That's quite funny.

Maybe next time they will suggest having your windscreen tinted to 20%.
