Strike two for my 80k piece of crap!! Back from two weeks overseas, hop in this morning and 500 m down the road I get a brief message flash up about regen in process then filter nearly full message, then red throttle system message. Stuck in third again. This is less than two tanks of fuel since the last failure, despite of heaps of driving at 110 kph. Heads up to other Jeep Garage subscribers - when you see this Summit advertised (soon), don't buy it!!

Well, there has been a spike in dpf issues lately. I'm wondering how many of these cars have failed regen since applying the TSB?

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

In a way, the information we're getting from those who have this problem isn't really helping build an information base. For those affected, I feel that pretty much everyone here receives a stab of the pain you're experiencing, and your story adds that bit extra doubt to the place where such thoughts reside in the back of our minds. However while we're empathising, it'd be great if you could throw in one or two extra lines documenting the Built Date, odometer reading, typical driving type, relevant TSBs applied, prior history, etc.

Benno did a great job maintaining a list of info early on, but it's harder going when all the details are not readily available. So tell us you're let down, p!ssed off, selling the biatch, etc... but please take a moment to chuck in all the back story for us too.

Cheers,
Steve

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

For the record.

First registered January 2013
23000k and error code for DPF issue.
Dealer could not get forced regen to work. Identified faulty Temp sensor. I was able to drive albeit without much acceleration for a bit over a week with DPF reportedly 160% full. After a few days driving Service Throttle code as well.

New Temp sensor fitted, forced regen and now ok for 2,000k.

I have not read much about DPF issues in up to MY13 cars and so I am assuming that this is not the same as those events reported in the MY14s but solely because the sensor failed.

Pete

Build date 3/5/13
Odometer: 14495 when car went into limp mode
Driving style: lots of short trips with a 1 hr drive pretty much every weekend up the coast at 110kmh most of the way. Including a climb up the range so its sure to increase exhaust temps.
Sucessful regen at about 12500km in traffic conditions.
Last service at 14450km where all updates were applied upto date. Ill have to dig out the invoice for the TSB numbers...

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

OK, got it back this afternoon. At this stage they just did a forced regen, but a new DPF is on its way from Melbourne. Hopefully this is the fix.

Barboots, you'll find my "back story" further back in the thread (about a month).
I always provide plenty of additional data about the problems I have to the dealer . I spent my working life troubleshooting problems with machinery. It does become frustrating though, when you spend 20 minutes giving someone a list of symptoms with a detailed timeline of the failure, including other observations at the time only to have them write something like "DPF requires regen" on the worksheet.

I'm hopeful the filter will stop the frequent clogging issue but I still believe my Jeep has a problem with the auto regen system. Both times it has gone into "regeneration in progress" mode within one to two seconds the red throttle control system message has appeared and the car drops into limp mode.

We'll see

I think the problem lies with the service techs and Jeep. The techs only do what jeep lets them do. Jeep fully believe that the problem is not theirs, and that fuel is the issue. So much so, that the service guy told me yesterday that Jeep is in the process of setting up a contract with a fuel testing lab, so they can pass the costs on to the owners. The service guy I was speaking to also believes that fuel seems to be the issue, and that while he was at ford, they were able to sucessfully clog a DPF with crap diesel in less than 500km.

Re: Is DPF issue for 2014 CRD fixed now?

My message wasn't directed at you Dazpad... it was regarding reports in general. Though having been referred back for a look, I see the question had to be asked at the time.

Cheers,
Steve

As far as dodgy diesel goes, I've always used Vortex from a large Caltex near me. They've got plenty of turnover and my wife's Mercedes has run on their diesel for just under three years without issue.
